A couple of youngsters are fascinated by the presence of Ato Hand at
the demonstrations. Ato was a member of the 2000 Olympic Judo Team
who participated at the Games in Sydney, Australia. Ato's father,
Fred Hand, is the President of the Leon County Judo Club, and has also
competed at the international level.
Ato Hand (left) and dad, Fred Hand (right), speak with the kids during a question and answer period/video presentation. Other Leon County presenters shown above are Michael Champion (green belt) and Matthew Richardson (blue belt).
Other Leon County Judo Club instructors, above, are (left to right) John Ross, Donald L. Trussell, and David Kinsey.
Instructor John Ross gives the kids a brief history of judo. He has recently returned to the U.S. after many years in Korea.
Jacob Richardson (front) works with a young boy while his dad, Ron Richardson
(back), gets thrown by a young girl. The audience participation part
of the program was a big hit!
The girls won't be left out of the action! Blue belt, Sarah Ford (left), and yellow belt, Sharon Kinsey (right), show instructor, Donald Trussell, that they won't be fooled by his sneak attack from behind during the self defense portion of the demonstration. Bye-bye, baby!
Ian Ford, green belt, takes a fall for Daniel Kinsey, yellow belt (left)
while Sharon Kinsey, yellow belt, gets thrown by one of the club's youngest
members, Patrick Baker (right).
