This is the original Benner farmhouse, located on Trenton Road about 1/2 mile from Route 413 in Middletown Twp. John A. Benner and Mary Moriah Sutton lived there in the late 1800's and it stayed in the family until Linfred Benner, Sr. sold the farm to Bill Levitt. The property became Snowball and Red Rose Gate. Up the road towards Woodbourne Road was a slaughterhouse which was approximately the site of the Queen of the Universe Church. Across Trenton Road from the farm house was the other end of Frosty Hollow road, just a dirt road which is now long gone and ends at Route 1, down by the Diner at the corner of Route 413 and Route 1
On Trenton Road among some pine trees is a small cape cod style house, with light yellow siding, the small cottage was built by Linfred Benner, Jr., my father, and he built it along with his brother around 1945. The house was originally built in part of the cow pasture, when you looked out the backdoor all you saw was meadow for as far as you could see. The house has since been enlarged. It was not included when my grandfather sold his property to Bill Levitt.
