I grew up in the Red Cedar Hill section, Rambler Lane very near 5 Points. Walking up to Hillbornes on Newportville Road to buy my baseball cards. Then over to Twin Kiss for root beer. Over to Gino's for a haircut. Then a shopping trip at Kane's Market next to Town Pharmacy to get a soda at the soda fountain. Sledding down what we called Wister Hill on Red Cedar Drive. Who also remembers the carnival rides the Whip and the Ferris Wheel that rode around the sections on the back of a truck? O`Boyles ice cream and Mr. Softy. Putting a D in your window when you wanted Duncan Bread to stop for a delivery. Glass milk bottles, cutting through all the backyards to walk to Thomas Jefferson before anyone had a fence, since we were not allowed to have one anyway. Having trash pickup in our carport. You didn't even have to put it at the curb!! When we bought the house it did not even have a driveway, just a slate walk to the door of our rancher.
