Lori Fassman - Background Info

- I got married on Sunday, May 24, 1998 to David Cohen, originally from Houston, TX. Check out the wedding web site.
- I'm originally from Connecticut (born in Stamford, family moved to Westport when I was 2.) I went
to Brandeis Univ. for two years, hated it, and transferred to the Univ. of Conn., whence I
got my degree in math/actuarial science. I moved to the Boston area in the summer of 1988
because life in Hartford really stank and a friend of mine from Brandeis (Elizabeth Stone) was looking for a roommate in Somerville, Mass.
- After college I started out as an actuarial analyst (at the Travelers in Hartford, and then Watson Wyatt Worldwide in Wellesley, MA), and then I moved into programming pension calculation systems at Watson Wyatt. Now
I work as a sales engineer at
InterSystems, a database company in Cambridge, where I've been employed since April 1997. As an SE, I assist customers and prospective customers by answering their questions, doing demos and presentations, building prototypes of their applications, and so forth.
- I've done a lot of volunteer work over the years, much of it for folk music organizations, some of which have
their own web pages (see my links page).
- I took up quilting a few years ago, and have started filling up the house with little quilted wall hangings. (Haven't
yet made a bed-sized quilt.)
