Singer Songwriter Mare Streetpeople has been performing throughout New England & beyond for 30 years.
Her music has been heard by diverse audiences from homeless shelters to concert halls. She has performed at
public & private events both solo & with bands. She has sung at The Vatican & at the Bottom Line, The Lincoln
Memorial & on local & national television & radio. Based in Boston, MA, Mare has also performed in Key West, FL,
Chicago, Ill, San Francisco, CA, Montreal Canada, and Medjugorje, Bosnia Herzegovina. Audiences have heard Mare as herself & as a Janis Joplin
impressionist in New York, Conn, New Hampshire, Maine & Vermont. She has headlined at concert halls which in
the same week have featured Judy Collins & Emmy Lou Harris. She has also been a streetperformer & a subway singer.
Much of her music is original though to the obvious pleasure of her audiences who can't help but sing along -
she will often sing older cover tunes from the 40's to the 60's. Her voice has been compared to "The Grand Canyon
carved by The Colorado River" (Liz Rourke, Boston Phoenix)
It can be both sensitive and soothing or wild & powerful as when she does her signature Janis Joplin impression or covers one of her more raucous rocksongs. Mare's original songs range from country to rock to folk to blues to gospel. She is an entertainer for the masses as her performances encompass many genres. Her clever wit is refreshing, her introspective storytelling through song is memorable as it speaks to the pulse of other's lives & emotions. The experiences of love are universal, In a subtle yet heart reaching way, Mare's music seeks to validate, honor & heal the vast range of human emotion as she expresses & exposes her own journey's joy & pain through her original compositions. See for yourself - attend a Mare Streetpeople concert...
