San Jose City Manager Debra Figone is scheduled to be our speaker.  She has a lifetime of public service in the San Jose area both in San Jose and Los Gatos and is a product of San Jose State University. She knows our area. This promises to be a special presentation. www.sanjoseca.gov/citymanager/

This Week ~ November 12th

Our Lt Governor, Mike Montanari made a presentation to remember.  I can see great things in Kiwanis happening this year.

Guests:

Our guests were all from the Almaden Club.  Mary introduced Jim Lucarotti, Bob introduced Pete Edwards and Christopher verBurg, and Ernie introduced our Lt Governor Mike Montanari .

Meeting Happenings

President MarLyn opened the meeting with a hammer to ring the bell.  Where is that gavel?  Don led the Pledge of Allegience, Ellen led us in “This Land is Your Land”, and Janet led the invocation. *  Neither Doug or Atsuko were here to celebrate their birthday.  Next week? * As a note- the Anniversary contribution goes to the Administration Fund.  A member can request that it go to the Community Fund. *   Today’s fine goes to everyone wearing red.  *   Mary B had a “fisherman’s” joke.  *  Bill announced that for the Turkey Drive we will be at PW on Prospect. He is taking signups.  *  Mary B collected today and next week for 2nd Harvest Food drive.  So you have one more chance to donate.  *  Virginia had a good amount to take to Martha’s Kitchen.  *  Mary also managed to register us for “Turning Wheels for Kids”--- the bicycle construction event.  Orientation is Nov. 30 and the event is Dec. 12. *   Clyde and Ellen are involved in a project for Nova  -more later.  *   Terry and Mary are plotting a Christmas Parade Float.  Hooray!  They are looking for a truck to pull it. *  Rosalie has come up with a club brochure that looks great.   *  The Fisher Middle School Builders Club has an advisor and 3 committed parents.  Sounds promising.  *   Andy says that Jim joined the group last Saturday for a trail cleanup.  *  Steve won the drawing but not the pot.  ONE MORE TIME!

Happy/Sad Dollars

Don is sad that Anita is in Georgia with 2 four year olds, but he is happy to be able to be a copilot with the Flying Doctors to Oasis, CA soon.  Pat happily reports that the Historic Home Tour was successful.  Virginia says a big thank you for the Martha’s Kitchen donations.  Mary Tomasi said she was sorry to have to leave early today.  Ray was sad about a Yellow Fever Shot.  Terry was sad that he couldn’t reach his son by phone, but word got back that he was busy.  Bob recently visited the Computer Museum on Shoreline to see the Vacuum Tube computer on view right now.  Steve was happy about Almaden’s  interclub today.  Mike Montanari had $5 of happy for the opportunity to join and speak to us today and he must be a Yankee fan. And Jim Lucarotti said Almaden says thanks.
