In Search Of...
As one goes through life, one runs across all sorts
of interesting little tidbits. Well, some of my tidbits have
gotten
lost along the way. Anyone know about these?
The Boy Who Cried Dinosaur.
This is a short story, author unknown. If memory serves, it
starts
out like this:
"Little Johnny Lauderbinn was like all the
other little boys in the little New Jersey town of Tom's Lake. He
read the Koran, walked on fire, stuck hatpins through his cheeks, and
every
Sunday he attended the human sacrifice ceremony at a neighboring
Stonehenge.
The only thing really different about little Johnny was his
imagination.
He had a terrific imagination, and this would get him into trouble..."
It's been a looooong time
since I've read this, so the words may be a little off, but you get the
idea.
SUCCESS!: another kind
soul to the rescue. This story was written by Jack Douglas, from
the book My Brother Was an Only Child.
Keep
in Touch With Your Ex. A friend gave me a copy of a copy
of this advertisement.
I wish I could get an original. A kind soul told me about a store
in New Orleans that had similar items, although that was before the
terrible hurricane. I guess I'll keep looking for mail order.
Pogo Cartoon. Remember
Pogo? There was a strip with dialog:
"I've read that there may be thousands of other planets with
intelligent
life. Some of them may be tremendously smarter than us. On
the other hand, maybe we're the most intelligent...either way, it's a
mighty
sobering thought." Anyone know of a source?
People can get lost, too.
If any of the following are reading this, get in touch. I've
mangled
the names to protect the guilty, but you know who you are: Vick
Damone, Jill Leftwrist, Clark Freund El.
