THE HERD        In order to have milk, we must have kids. This year (2012) we are expecting more than 60 of them.

Our first choice is to sell them all to good homes, as sibling pairs when possible. Our next choice is to sell them for meat with us taking them to slaughter (since they know us) after spending all their time on pasture or with their mommas in the herd where they were born. We do not sell our kids at auction barns.  Our herd is closed against the possible introduction of infections from outside. Within the herd we have a healthy breadth of genetic diversity in the gene pool. Our herd is raised on our USDA certified organic pastures and hay using organic practices though the herd itself is not USDA certified. We are listed with EatWild.com and meet their criteria for grass-fed humanely raised animals.

The kids are for sale as soon as they are weaned at 10 weeks.
All kids come dehorned, vaccinated, with a birth and vaccination/health care record. ($125/buckling, $100/doeling, $75/wethered male). We will post here the pictures as we have them.  Email me to reserve a kid that appeals to you, or to set up a time to come see them. - Stephen

The Does:

Our herd of 32 mothers, along with six yearlings awaiting their turn to have kids in 2013, make a pretty sight out on the pasture in the spring when they are out there with their kids.  The main part of the herd had an Alpine sire but the mothers are from the Alpine, Toggenburg, LaMancha, and Saanen breeds.  They are a happy mixed bunch of so-called "grade" goats.  They have certainly made the grade with us.
