This is a picture of Aldehyde
Dehydrogenase, the worker that finishes the job Al starts: detoxifying ethyl
alcohol. Like Al, Aldehyde Dehydrogenase works in groups:
Al works in
pairs, and Aldehyde Dehydrogenase works in complexes of four.
The four Aldehyde Dehydrogenase workers are shown in three shades of blue and in brick red. Within each worker, a molecule of NAD is shown (in yellow, orange, green, and yellow-green -- the last two are hard to see in this view, but are easily seen in the movies). The purple balls are atoms of samarium, a rare metal added to the complex to help figure out what it looks like.
