Getting in Touch With Your Inner Stash

This funny and informative trunk show focuses on how to analyze that pile of fabric you call your stash and how to create beautiful and eye-pleasing quilts based on what you have on hand. The trunk show features more than a dozen pieces that illustrate well-designed stash quilts.

Workshops

Wearable Art--Jacket Workshop

One or Two-Day Workshop.
The first day of this workshop covers design and construction techniques and can be scheduled as a one-day workshop by itself. However, students benefit from and greatly enjoy a second full day of sewing, experimenting with various techniques, and learning about embellishments (speciality thread work, beading, silk ribbon embroidery, etc.). This workshop uses commercially produced patterns that students must purchase prior to class (information on recommended patterns provided prior to workshop). The workshop incorporates many piecing techniques to design a one-of-a-kind jacket. Instruction on lining the jacket is included. The second day of the workshop can be scheduled on the same weekend or at a longer interval.
(H, ALL)

Whitman Sampler, Silk Ribbon Embroidery

Silk Ribbon Embroidery
Learn silk ribbon embroidery stitches that can be used in a variety of quilt projects, from crazy quilts to miniature Baltimore albums. Participants will make a small piece like pillow shown to practice stitches and technique. Half or full-day workshop.
(H, ALL, KIT available)

Thread Magic: Direct and Applied Thread Painting Techniques.
This class features instruction on both direct and applied methods of thread painting, a terrific way to add your own personal touch to your quilts and wearable art. Photo to be posted to website SOON!

Machine Trapunto
Learn to simulate the look of hand-stuffed trapunto using today's water soluable and invisible threads on your machine. This technique gives an elaborate and formal appearance while adding depth and texture to your finished quilts. Familiarity with free motion quilting necessary. One-day workshop.

"What do I do with all those Fat Quarters?"
Mystery Quilt Workshop

You won't know what the finished top looks like until all the pieces to the puzzle are put into place (and no two quilts will look exactly alike), but you'll have fun in the process. Discover how basic blocks can be combined to create interesting and sometimes unusual design elements. This day long workshop is intended for those with rotary cutting and machine piecing background and is definitely for those with a sense of adventure! This is an excellent way to use up those fat quarters we collect but don't know what to do with.
(INT/ADV, SM)

TWO-COLOR QUILTS

Participants will spend two wonderful days making a full-sized quilt top in either the Burgoyne Surrounded, Checkers and Rails, or Split Nine Patch pattern (to be determined before workshop begins). All are historical patterns. Participants may not have the complete top finished by the end of the second day, but they will be well on their way! The two days of the workshop can be scheduled on the same weekend or at longer intervals.
