The Fisher Family Web Page

Hello Family and Friends, I have decided that after almost a year, I would update or page and try to keep up on it monthly so that you all know what's going on in our lives! The site will be under construction for awhile. Thank you for your patience and any ideas are welcome! Love you all! The Fishers

Scrapbooking
Hey, do you like to scrapbook? Well I do and I have a long way to go before I get caught up! Is anyone interested in getting together for a whole day of it? If so, send me an email or call at (248) 860-3760. We have two options: Go to a place that has it scheduled and convoy out together or have one just with family and friends. Let me know what you would prefer and two Saturdays that you are available and I'll see if we can get a date on the calender.
PICTURES
This picture was taken today. Brian went to Al Peels at Dixie & Telegraph and picked this up on Sunday. It's huge!

Hello everyone,

Just thought I would write a quick note, and let everyone know how I’m doing. I am currently in Mosul at Saddams northern palace. It is a very nice change from where I was the last five weeks. There is grass, trees, and flowers. No sand. The people here don’t seem to want to kill us as much. It is relatively peaceful here within the compound. I was at Abu Gahrub prison, located between Baghdad and Fallujah. It was a very stressful and dangerous place to be. There were ten thousand of Iraqs worse people there. We were motared everyday, sometimes two or three times. The Sunni triangle is a rough place. Everything is going well, and all of our men are safe. I would like to spend the rest of my time in country up north, but I’m only likely to be here a month or so. It has been nice to enjoy some free time while we await our mission tasking. I’ve been keeping close touch with Lira via instant messaging. She sent me pictures, and I can’t believe how much my girls have already changed. Being away from them is the hardest part of my deployment. I am proud to be here, and I still believe in the mission. I got to witness the aftermath and the destruction Saddam and his sons have caused to these people. I hope his punishment is severe. Abu Gahrub was full of their evilness. Anyone who doesn’t believe in the war should spend some time sight seeing there. I’ve tried to write anyone back who has written me. I don’t have that many addresses with me so I use the letters I get as my data base. I miss talking to everyone. I was able to call Mom once on my birthday. If I’m by a phone, I try to call so I can talk to Tori, I don’t want her to forget my voice. I don’t expect to receive or send any mail for the next month or so. I look forward to getting back to read it. Mail is the highlight of every ones day. We usually get it twice a week. I am keeping you all in my prayers, and I ask you to do the same for me. This has been a good opportunity for me to forge a closer bond with the Lord. I know that He will bring my men and I home safely. I look forward to hearing from you all.

Hi everyone! We were able to Instant Message with Brian today. Three times!!! We were able to see him the last time which was around 5:45 for about 1 1/2 hours. It was a really nice visit. Tori got to show him her Birthday gifts, even some other toys he hasn't see in awhile. We had some laughs! He was able to hear us, which makes it a double bonus for him. He was able to take a night off and relax, but it's back to work tomorrow. Their missions begin in the evening and they return early in the morning. He hasn't received any letters in a couple weeks. He will not receive any packages until his return to Boo (Abu Ghraib Prison). Please continue to send letters. Thank you for all your support! God bless, Lira

Hello Everyone,
It has been about five weeks since I’ve written anyone. I would like to thank all of you who have sent letters, and packages. I’m still missing a lot of my mail, it’s floating somewhere around in the country. I am back at Abu Gahrub, which I’m sure has been in the media lately. It is also know as Baghdad Correctional Facility. I am less than thrilled to be here, but will make the best of it. It was great to go up North and do the missions that we train for. My team is comprised of new members to our unit with little to no experience prior to our mobilization. It was very rewarding for me to see how they preformed on their first real missions. I am very proud of them. Our team survived without compromise longer than any other (5 days) on the Syrian border, before we had to be extracted. We have worked very hard building ourselves into a functioning team since December. My biggest challenge right now with them is to keep their morale up. It is hard to do that here. None of us feel that we belong at this prison. Our current job is to provide security, by running gun trucks for the convoys coming in and out of here. The bright spot here has been church service. It had nine members when I left and had seventy this past Sunday. The Chaplin is a friend of mine from the 82nd Airborne that I haven’t seen in ten years. There is also a guy named Tony from Kennsington, who sings there, it was great to run into him. I enjoyed talking to everyone on Easter. That was the first night I really became home sick. I miss my girls. I’m sorry I didn’t get a chance to wish Dad a happy birthday. Sometimes it is very hard for me to keep in touch. I did a lot of traveling this last month, and I enjoyed getting away from here and seeing the rest of the country. I am doing well, and will have many stories when I get home. I would like to thank all of you who have been supporting my family, it means more to me them you will ever know. Please keep writing me, I really enjoy your letters. It is getting hard for me to respond to all of them, so please take no offense. I will continue this correspondence at least once a month. Please continue to remember me in your prayers. God has been very merciful to us, and I can feel the prayer protection surrounding me. Thank you all for your support.

Hello Family and Friends!
Today I missed Brian's IM! It is very rare that this happens and when it does, I get very upset! I was able to IM with him on 22 May 04 at 12:45 am to 2:30 am. It has been a long time since we last talked that long. He is doing ok. Life there seems to be getting harder and harder. But because of Brian's faith in God and everyone's prayers, he has made it through. Brian has been very busy and has not had alot of time to get online and chat. Plus, the lines for the phone and computers are very long. For those of you that know Brian, he can't stand to wait in lines! I don't blame him and would not want him to stand in a line for 1+ hours. If he happens to walk by and there is a REALLY short line (like 1 person) he might consider getting in line! It is the same with the phones. He called me on Sun 16 May and we chatted for about 20 minuntes. This was really a Tori call. He misses her as I'm sure you know and doesn't want her to forget his voice. I know what it's like to forget your loved ones voice. Anyhow, last I heard his voice was on Easter Sunday when he called over to his Mother's house when most of the brother's and sister's were there. It was so nice to be able to talk to him and have his brothers and sisters get a moment with him as well. It was an awesome surprise! He did send some pictures today so when I can figure out how to creat a photo album I will post as many of the pictures I am allowed to for you to view. Notice that I did change the picture at the top. This was a picture taken during a convoy (notice that his uniform looks like a tent; as he would say it). Last I touched on the subject, he wanted more snacks (beef jerky, etc). He's pretty stocked up on the hygiene stuff and has requested that we hold off on those items. He finally received all the mail that he was missing and those that were sent to the alternate address while they were up north. All of his mail has now caught up with him! As for the Fisher Girls (Lira, Charelle, Victoria and Elizabeth) we are doing fine. Elizabeth will be 7 months old on June 8! She right now weighs about 20 pounds. What a porker! Charelle is doing good in school. She was supposed to go to Chicago. I had taken the trip away from her due to some attitude problems. But because of her help recently and her attemps to be nicer, I have decided to let her go. She does not know this yet. I will be telling her the big news this week. She will be gone from 1 June to 3 June, so please pray for a safe travel to and from and while she is there! Victori is doing good. She talks about her dad about 50% of the day. She's getting pretty tired of him being gone and "working". But because I try to keep her as busy as I can, this does distract her enough to get her through the day/week. On the 27th of this month it will be 5 months since I last held Brian. And on the 29th, it will be our 5 year anniversary, which happens to fall on Saturday the actual day we got married. For those of you that were there, it was such an awesome day! Even Jesus mad a specail appearance that day. Some felt it and new and some felt something, but were not sure what it was. Either way, God's presence was felt! Well, if I don't talk to you before the weekend, have a safe and wonderful Memorial weekend and please take a moment to remember what Memorial Day is all about. This year will have more meaning to me than past years. God bless you all and thank you for all your love, support, prays and friendships! Lira

Here are parts of a letter that Brian wrote to be shared the day of The Fisher Pig Roast:

…”Things have been as good as can be expected around here. The media has made it very difficult for us to do our job without being scrutinized.” “The new tactic now is car bombs that will drive right at you. We give plenty of warning for anything near us, and if they don’t listen we engage them.” “The temperature is consistently over a 100 during the day now. Our morale is surprisingly good right now considering all the crap that has happened.” “I’m feeling fine health wise. I was getting pretty runned down a couple of weeks ago, so I sat out for a couple missions.” “I can’t thank everyone enough for all the packages and mail. I’m still getting letters that were mailed out two months ago, when I was gone from this place. I absolutely cannot return all the correspondence. I feel bad about not returning letters, but I am extremely busy. I am happy if I can pull off five or six hours of sleep at night. They try to give us one day off a week, but that rarely works out.” “My time seems to be going by fast lately, and that is all I can hope for.” “I am very glad Rick has made it home safely, I am very proud of him.” (This is his brother who just returned home on Friday in time for Pig Roast! He was in one of the “istan” Country’s. Can’t remember the name to save my life!) “I got some very funny letters from Timm’s students; it doesn’t seem like he’s changed much, he still makes me laugh. By the time I try to write any of the kids back, they will be out of school, and won’t receive them.” (Timm was the groomsman at our wedding and also a good friend of Brian’s. He is a Principal in the Richmond School District.) “I really enjoy all of my pictures; I look at them all the time.”

Brian was able to call me on our Anniversary, which was Saturday and also Sunday morning and afternoon (so that he could talk to family). He sounds good, just really hot! He’s pretty stocked up on personal care products, except for the foot powder, aborbine Jr and Bi-flex that I should be sending every two weeks. He did request power bars, tuna packets, beef jerky and some snacks. Thanks for checking in and until next time, be safe, hug someone you haven’t hugged in awhile and tell your husband/wife how much you love them and appreciate them. Sometimes we take them for granted with out realizing it. Love each other with all your heart. For God loved us so much that He gave His one and only Son to die on the cross so that our sins could be forgiven. All he asks of us is to give Him a little bit of our time daily and to love others as He has loved us. God bless you all!

Hello Family and Friends!

Just wanted to let you know that Brian called me on Thursday to check in with us and he instant messaged me this morning. He's tired, but good. I think he just wanted me to know that it is 120 degrees! Now, I really can't find it in myself to complain about the weather here!
Also, if you haven't seen the photo's yet, go to the last link "The Fisher Website with Photo Gallery". I will be updating this with new pictures soon from Brian and a few of us girls of of family. Have a great week and thank you for your continued support! God bless, Lira
