Updated 11/24/09
Welcome to my newest list. I add to it all the time, so
keep in touch. Let me know if you're looking for a particular model- I have
some stuff I haven't gone through yet! I have digital viewing photos of most of
these, so if you are on-line, feel free to ask to see them. Please e-mail if
you want more information. If you don't know what a mold looks like- ask! I
will hold models for 7 days. No USA on a matte finish Breyer indicates that the
model probably predates 1970 (this applies to most molds created before 1974).
Shipping cost is additional. I ship through the post
office, by priority mail or parcel post (your choice), or sometimes by first
class, if you prefer, if it’s a small model. Please e-mail me with the models
you want, and your shipping address, and I’ll pack them up and weigh them for
you. I don’t charge any handling fee, just the actual postage amount.
No returns on "new in the box" models if they
have been removed from the box or twisted around on their ties.
You can e-mail me
at lizstrauss@comcast.net E-mail holds are good for one week.
#5 Matte Palomino Family Arab Mare.
Left side is in excellent condition. Right side is in vg condition, with
scrapes on haunches. Right eye is painted messily. Has the remains of a blue
ribbon sticker on her right shoulder, but not much of it. Very nice shading on
off side, and would be a great photo show horse from that side. Still very
white. From my own collection. $10
#9
Glossy Alabaster Family Arab Foal, excellent condition. Slightly yellowed. Pink
nose and ears. Nostrils nicely outlined in gray. $12

speckled spots, a variation from my own collection. Discontinued 1982. $10
#33
Glossy Palomino Fighting Stallion, vg+ except right eartip broken. Very pretty
dark butterscotch color. No shading on genitals. Would make a nice shelf piece
as he looks good from a distance, especially on his left (glamour) side. Made
1961-73. Flea market find, and I gave him a quick wash, but there’s more that
could be done. Has a few paint flaws as well. His white parts are still nice
and white, but not blindingly so. $20
#58
Hanoverian, very near mint. Dark red semigloss version. This one is from 1984,
the last year of issue. Comes with his old yellow picture box (still in
excellent condition) and his 1984 box manual. Made 1980-84. A variation from my
own collection. $40
#59
White Western Horse, vvg except scratched hooves with pinkish magic marker
residue on them (they had had black magic marker on them but it came off).
Black eyes version. No tack. Made 1950-60/2. $17
#69
Smoky the Cowhorse in gray or grulla (4 white socks version), near mint. Seams
are a little rough. Subtle, but pretty shading. Gray hooves. Still very white.
The four socks version is believed to have been made 1981-84 only. From my own
collection. $25 If you like, buy an
original cardboard picture box to go with this model. I have two for sale (both
showing the four socks version), one box with wear at corners, some spots. $3.
And one in better condition for $4

condition. Semigloss. Made 1971-74 only. $35

small and don’t go forward of his hips. Has some paint flaws, and seams are
rough in a few places. Still nice and white. Someone has glued small felt pads
to the bottoms of his hooves- obviously this guy was always a shelf piece and
never played with. Comes with old white picture box that has the photo of the
bay running foal, and a gold sticker that reads “Box contains model #133 Color:
Dark Dapple”. A variation from my own collection. $30
#166
Buckskin Lying Down Foal, vg+ condition except for small paint chip off back of
ear. Has the tiny bubbles in the paint as is often seen on this mold. Some of
the bubbled paint has flecked off on his legs on his glamor side. He’s a pretty
one anyway, with a very bald face. $12

#410212
1989 Black Horse Ranch Special Run Bay Running Stallion, excellent condition.
This is a rare and oddball special run, with only 146 or 147 having been
produced. They were done from overruns of the Just About Horses Special Run
chestnut Running Stallion. Karen Grimm, owner of Black Horse Ranch, instructed
the Breyer factory to paint over the chestnut mane and tail with black to
change the color to bay. These models have darker knees and hocks, but their
lower legs are a dark cream color- kind of gives that bay silver effect. Pretty
body shading on this one. Hoof edge and tailtip rubs. Has a few specks of
darker factory paint on the right side of his back. From my own collection.

Mellin art- a metal tray with a gorgeous golden bay (almost a buckskin)
foundation-type Quarter Horse. 1966 date on signature. Picture at http://home.comcast.net/~lizstrauss/mellintray-1.jpg About 11" in diameter. I think
the little black specks in the sky will come out; they seem to be some sort of
stuck-on gunk, and I lazily didn't put any effort into trying. Someone has
glued some little flat bits of foam on the back, but it doesn't effect the
glamour side of the tray! Only selling because I found out I'd aquired two of
these over the years. $18
Celtic
Pony medallion by Lesli Kathman, in glossy wine-colored glazed earthenware.

sold this one from her Artisan Hall table at Breyerfest in 2006. $50
Arabian
horse head and neck bust by Kristina Lucas Francis. Very refined face, twitchy
ears. This is made out of resin, but painted by Kristina to resemble pewter.
Signed by Kristina and dated ’00. I believe this was the Lucas Francis
Challenge class first place award at BOYC 2000. Sits on a cylindrical black
resin base. The base is 2” high, and the horse itself is 4 ½” high. Very
pretty! $85

Artistry Alchemy Original Finish Mini Striking Out Arabian Stallion in white
gray, satin finish. This color was a special run for the 2002 Model Horse
Collectors Jamboree. This one is #61 of the run, and is signed as having been
painted by their late great painter Anthony. Mint condition. 3 ½” tall at
eartips. I really like the way the mane and tail are mostly cream-colored,
instead of stark white- makes for greater realism. I think Donna Chaney once
mentioned she was inspired by the work of the French sculptor Antoine-Louis
Barye when she sculpted this piece. $125
Animal
Artistry Alchemy Original Finish Colourway Large Trotting Hackney Stallion,
sculpted by Donna Chaney, and decorated to a matte/satin light chestnut by

favorite molds, but I’m trying to cut down on my large Hackney conga line!

#946 Grazing Foal (1st version) in brown gloss. An oldie- made
1941-55. Has pinking in nostrils and on mouth. Nicely repaired and touched up
left front leg above knee. Also a nice clean break/repair above hock on left
hind leg, with one teensy chip missing at front of leg- would be an easy touch
up. Has a glaze flaw on the right side of his mane where it looks as though
some of the clear gloss glaze didn’t stick. $30

North
Light P1158 Irish Draft in Medium Irish Draft Dapple Gray. My final and most
favorite North Light! This beautifully painted model is from the early 1990s,
back before North Lights were made in
Craft
House Clydesdale gelding, hobby-painted bay. These were kit models from the
1980s, and this one is from their first series. Approximately Breyer
Classic-scale, and made of hard heavy plastic that is less brittle than the
Breyer plastic. Could use a better paint job. $7
Deb
Lenzner resin Quarter Horse Mare, painted by the sculptor to a softly shaded
rose gray, two white socks and star. Very sweet expression. Makes a great
performance model. Traditional size. Marked #39/200, but only 72 were made. Deb
eventually turned over part of the run to Daphne Macpherson of Cascade Models.
In a June 1996 ad in the Model Horse Trader, Daphne was selling unpainted
blanks of this resin for $140.75. $125
Janice
Brent Starr bisque Standing Stock Horse Mare, cold painted to a buttermilk
buckskin overo Paint with two blue eyes by Laura Behning, and with added
shading and dorsal stripe by Laurie Jo Jensen. My notes say that this piece has
been customized to have a different mane and forelock. Traditional scale, or a
bit larger. Not signed or dated, but I’ve owned her since 1996, and LJJ worked
on her for me sometime in the late 1990s. She had been a live show winner for
Laura, under the name Jolie Blonde. She makes a very appealing young mare, or
racing stock Paint. When I tap on her mane and forelock they sound ceramic, so
I’m pretty sure she was customized in greenware. If I look super close there is
the shadow of a suspicious horizontal line on her front front cannon bone, as
if perhaps she has a repaired break under the paint. $350 including shipping

Black
Horse Ranch resin Hunter, sculpted by Sue Sifton, and repainted by Sheryl Leisure
to a semi-gloss medium dapple gray. Sheryl also resculpted one (both?) of the
ears so they both match better, and added some epoxy to the bottoms of his
hooves so he now stands up really well. Traditional scale. Comes with one

Carol
Williams Parrs Dream Doll resin, painted to a fancy buckskin semi-blanket
Appaloosa by Sherry Clayton. Lots of halo-ing and Appy characteristics.
Traditional scale. Perfect condition. Comes with an expired
Kottilian resin, sculpted by Sarah
Minkiewicz-Breunig, and painted to a golden dun or buckskin with a blaze and 2
white socks by Sandi Bendel-Gaertner. This mold is 5.5” high, between Little
Bits and Classic scale. Mold run of only 50, and you definitely had to be in
the right place at the right time to get one. Sarah painted a few herself, and
hand-picked 4 other artists who would do the remainder. This one would make a
great Akhal-Teke cross but she has never been shown. Sarah uses a photo of her
on her web site as an example of a Kottilian by Sandi. The Kottilian mold is
pegged onto the base, and the bottom of the right hind fetlock is turned under,
and rubs on the base. Sandi e-mailed me to say she was trying to prevent this
from happening by the extra application of some sort of sealer, but this
Kottilian has a rub there anyway (in the white part, so would be an easy
touch-up). You can’t see it unless you take her off the base and turn her
upside down, so it really isn’t a problem. Also, there is a faint streak of
some sort of clear gloss on her right side, behind her shoulder. I didn’t even
notice it until it showed up on one of my photos (just ask, and I’ll e-mail
them to you) and went looking for it. $475
Saadiqah
resin, a big athletic trotting Arabian mare sculpted by Sarah
Minkiewicz-Breunig, and painted a glowing golden chestnut by Chris Jolly. This
large girl stands approximately 11” at the eartips, not counting the base.
Roto-cast and lightweight, she lifts out of her base for easy transport. She
has steel reinforced legs and tail, and was cast by Resins by Randy. Only 50
were made, Chris did a stunning paint job on her. You could look at this model
all day and still see something new going on- so much detail, so many subtle
blendings of color. She has 4 sporty white stockings, a star and snip. $1050

Spinnaker
resin by Sarah Minkiewicz-Breunig, painted a sort of mealy dun by Beth Hoffert
of Twisted Fate Studio. This cantering pony-type resin is between Stablemate
and Little Bits scale, 3 ¼” high and 4 ¼” long. Lots of detail in a small
package, and super nicely prepped as well. Perfect condition. Comes with 2

Kristina
Lucas Francis Maggie Eriskay Pony resin, painted buckskin pinto by Sarah
Minkiewicz-Breunig. Very detailed, with subtle halo-ing on her spots, realistic
shading, pale pinking in the right places. An amazing amount of detail and work
on such a small critter. Very spunky and perky! Maggie stands just under 2 ½”
high. Maggie was a one-mold run by Resins by Randy. The mold wore out quickly,
so only 30-50 were made. $600 including shipping/insurance within the

Lucas Francis unpainted resin Worth the Wait, a young stock mare. Worth the
Wait is about 5 ½” tall and is a lovely smooth casting by Dabar, with
wire-reinforced legs. Very limited resin edition- only 30-50 Worth the Waits
were produced. This sculpture was also produced in earthenware by Pour Horse
Pottery. $95 plus shipping

Lucas Francis traditional-scale Tenorio resin, painted by the late Judy Renee

One eartip had broken in shipping, but has now been professionally restored.

Khitti Kat in glossy finish, this version with lighter brown points. This is
the Siamese kitten with right paw up. 2 ¼” high. Produced various times between
1952 and 1959. No breaks or restorations. Has a small-medium glaze chip on each

Royal
Mortens
Studio #741 Standing Airedale Terrier Dog (adult female). Pretty good
condition- one chip off left front paw, small chip missing from above right
eye, below right hock (can’t see from direct side view), and left ear. Has a
bit of crazing on her legs. Old repair on the inside of her left hind leg-
looks like a couple chips fell out but were glued back into place. Has round
gold/black sticker on belly. 6” long x 4 ¾” high. $20
Mortens
Studio Arabian Horse Head Plaque. Light bay with a blaze. This has a lot of
dimension to it- both sides of the head
are figured, and then it gets flat at the back side of the neck. Very good
condition. The worst flaw is two tiny chips on the neck. Has original wire on
the back for hanging- it’s in there good and tight, but I’m not sure how
trustworthy it is after all these years. Has the small round gold/black sticker
as well as a descriptive rectangular sticker, although that one is marred by a
hole punch through it. About 7 ½” tall. $50
Royal
Worcester Robin #3197, tiny chip or unpainted spot at edge of base. About 4”
high. $25

Models
I'm looking for include some woodgrains and some models with factory eyewhites (for example, the buckskin
Mustang, Appy Western Prancer, and
Palomino Pinto Shetland). I am no longer
very interested in Breyers, except for these. I am much more interested in
trading for Hagen-Renakers (want glossy Lady Jane ewe and Monrovia White Tail
Buck especially), some older Beswick Thoroughbreds, true old-style 1960s
Beswick Appaloosa, some Metlox Poppytrail horses, Royal Worchester horses, Pour
Horse, Rosenthal and Hutschenreuther pieces. Send a long double-stamped SASE
for my big list of books for sale, or I can e-mail it to you.
