November 2, 2009
Dear Parents,
I cannot believe it is the first
of November already! I hope everyone survived Halloween intact. That
extra hour this weekend was really helpful! Maybe I will feel more like
getting up in the morning with that earlier sun rise.
Yea! The Harcourt sites are
now updated! The correct science book is now available, and the
students have new math logins and passwords. Their new math login is
simply ga0636 and their lunch number (all together), and the password
is password. Everything is the same as it was for science--login: lunch
number, password is bobcat. I will make new cards for their folders
soon. They already have a current login and password for the new SRA
language arts series.
All students now have their
new AR goals. We are working each
morning on achieving those goals, but the students still need to read a
few minutes each evening, also. Reading practice is still a huge part
of reading success, as well as being successful in all academic areas.
Remember, you can check your child's AR progress directly from the
Homework page, near the bottom at the link: Renaissance Place Home Connect. Your child
signs in just as he/she would to take an AR test.
Math
still finds our classes studying multiplication
and division for the next few months--reviewing, and then moving on to
double-digit multiplication and long division. Know those facts quickly
will be essential for their success. There are
several links on the subject page for practice.
We are now studying a unit on
Astronomy. The students usually enjoy the study of
space, so please feel free discuss your interests in this area of
study, or point out any interesting current news pieces on the subject.
The
students
really
enjoy Popcorn Fridays. It would be a big help to PTO if you could send
in the money on the Thursday before. The next Popcorn Friday will be
October 30th.
I continue to update the link to Spelling City on the Homework
page. The students can practice their words by playing games. A
handwriting practice sheet can also be printed from the word list.
Here is a link to the Medication Form needed
to
administer medicine at school.
Please remember that if you need to pick up your child early for an
appointment, you must do it before 3:00 P.M. This new policy is for the
safety all of our students.
At the bottom of this page is a direct link for you
to email me. Please feel
free to do so any time--it is the best and most efficient way to
communicate
with me.
Have a wonderful week!
Mrs. Rennick
P.S. Be sure to check the test
calendar for the dates.
