JD is an accomplished guitarist who is learning piano, music theory and composition.

Kristin is cultivating the total artist studying voice, piano, percussion, composition and arranging. She has a promising practice due to her bounding enthusiasm and artistic abilities.

Lydia studies voice and piano. here she is at her first recording session which was excellent!

Virginia is studying voice and piano. She will produce a cd sometime this year!

Bill, Laurie and Ben are studying improvisation and jazz in a group setting. Here they are having their first recording session!

Sarah Pyo (on the left) is learning to sing and play electric guitar. she was joined by her aunt and cousin one day for a fun family group jam!

Here are Ju and Ju Yuk. They are learning to sing and play guitar. Since they are brothers they always have someone to practice with so they have made great progress in a short time!

This is Amanda. She studies piano, voice and songwriting. She is also the only person who's ever rented my house that also studied with me. She is out playing bluegrass in town these days with various bands.

Here's Lydia, Harinder and Gordon. Lydia plays drums and piano; Harinder piano; Gordon is a fine guitarist and saxophonist. Looks like the makings for a family band!!!

Cole is a fine guitarist. He is studying piano and composition. Cole is a seminal force in Eugene, at the hub of a student-owned housing project near U of O and working at the UO Outdoor Center when he's not busy trying to finish his studies at the University.

Bok Hyun and Jillian, father and daughter, enjoying their weekly guitar lesson!

Jerm Ook and Soojin Huh, father and daughter, heard from their friends Bok Hyun and Jillian that they would have a good time playing guitar here at "KenState University"!

Bok Hyun introduced me to My Jeong, a visiting professor at U of O who is interested in pursuing singing, songwriting, guitar playing and recording. He is very talented and is a delightful person to work with!

My former student, Bok Hyun Nam, was visiting Eugene from Korea. We were very happy to see each other again! We are standing in our newly remodeled house, in the "piano bar", a wonderful table-topped baby grand piano with stools and a "piano couch" gathered around the piano for hours of sing-a-long and other entertainment.

This is Rebecca Zullo. She is studying songwriting, guitar and voice and excells at all three! Somehow we are wearing matching t-shirts even though it was our first lesson together and we had no idea! Two great minds with one wardrobe?

Gary & Andrzej are my premier four-hand piano duet students, the "dynamic duo". They pursue their duo and solo piano pursuits with me once a week, as they have since 1989!!!

This is Brooke, a fine singer-songwriter guitarist and vocalist. She is teaching deaf children in Guatemala now. We had a wonderful time fulfilling lots of musical dreams together.

Jefferson Choir

In January 2006 Kenny was asked to teach choral music, group keyboard and music technology at Jefferson Middle School after 3 teachers in a row had burned out and quit. He jumped into the scene and took a floundering choir of 5 and built it up to two choirs and over 40 students in two months. Unfortunately funding was cut by the school district at the end of the year but a splendid time was had by all!

Here's what the choir looked like on day 3.....being a little silly, a little wild, even a bit shy but having fun! Taking over in the middle of the year can be challenging for everyone but the situation continues to improve every day!

8 weeks later...WOW! we've grown in numbers!

Mercedes, a 6th grader, shows her stuff on the drumset! It's "crazy hair day" at Jefferson and the blue-hairs are everywhere!

Here is our beautiful mural, leading the way to the Jefferson Choir room! Nobody really knew where the choir room was until we painted this....it's HOT!

Here's the mural with the artists (l to right): April, Kaylaa, Amanda, Annie, Corey & Kylea (seated). I think they enjoyed the project!

1992 All School Sing at Magnet Arts Elementary School,. Eugene, Oregon

Fullerton IV Elementary School

Roseburg, Oregon, 1987-88

My first year teaching was at an elementary school 70 miles south of Eugene. Here's a picture of my 5th grade beginning band (and their youthful teacher). I had a wonderful time teaching beginning band that year. You can see the satisfaction and joy in all of our faces!

This is my nephew, Josh. He was my very first music student, on piano, when he was around 12 and I was 23. Now he's 40 and has moved on to Long Beach, California where he practices rehabilitative medicine, spends time with his three kids and wife and plays guitar. I'm glad he's still playing music!
