AX84 P1

The AX84 website was initiated to help hobbyists build guitar amplifiers based on the popular EL84 (6BQ5) output tube.  The EL84 has power many famous amplifiers, most notably the Vox AX15 and AC30.  The first project, dubbed the P1, was a single-ended amplifier with a 3 band tone stack.  It produces about 5 watts.

Here are all the parts prior to beginning assembly.

This is the assembled cabinet with chassis and speaker baffle.  I'm not much of a woodworker so the joints are simple butt joints.  It's slightly larger than a Fender Champ.

This is the interior.  My wiring could be neater but the mess didn't cause any stability or noise problems.  I used a Hammond aluminum chassis and Hammond transformers.

The finished product.  The control panel is blue anodized aluminum.   The 1x12" cab holds a Weber C12NT.
