BWI - Your Local Negotiation Committee met recently to discuss issues for the upcoming contract negotiations. Your input from the survey forms are very helpful to identify issues important to our members. We ask that anyone who has not turned in their survey sheets, please do so so we may formulate our top priorities for negotiations.

HAGERSTOWN - Your Negotiating Committee met recently at the Union Hall to discuss upcoming contract negotiation issues. As more meetings are scheduled we will keep our members informed.

We were delighted to have a visit from our IUE/CWA President Jim Clark recently at our Union Hall. President Clark offered all the support we need from the IUE/CWA during the approaching contract negotiations, which we expect to be a very arduous time.

COST-OF-LIVING ADJUSTMENT - Per the 2004 contract, another COLA is scheduled for May 25, 2009, however, since the Consumer Price Index was actually lower in March 2009 as compared to March 2008, which is used in the formula for figuring the COLA, this results in a zero COLA increase for May 2009.

IMMEDIATE ATTENTION: F-22 Support Needed ... We are asking that all members and non-members access this website to voice their support for all necessary funding of the F-22 Program. Information concerning this issue is also available on this site....

EMPLOYEE FREE CHOICE ACT

There will be a Million-Member mobilization for the Employee Free Choice Act, and with your help, our unions will present the new President and Congress with 1 million signatures urging them to enact the Employee Free Choice Act. The Employee Free Choice Act will:

  • Strengthen penalties for companies that coerce or intimidate employees trying to form unions and bargain
  • Establish mediation and binding arbitration when the employer and workers cannot agree on a first contract and
  • Enable employees to form unions when a majority signs authorization cards.
