Preliminary plans indicate that our plant will be receiving additional new work. This is great news for our plant and is the direct result of your hard work and dedication. I want to thank you for your efforts and for the support of UAW International Vice-President Cal Rapson and Region 1-C. Without that support, this plant could not have survived.
Thank you for taking the time to vote on the contract changes. These sacrifices are difficult to accept but they are necessary for the survival of the UAW and GM. I appreciate your help and support as we go forward.
GM has extended some assembly plant downtime which may further impact employees on layoff. The Paragraph 96 moves from Grand Rapids have been delayed until the middle of August. While production will be entirely down June 29-July 10, the majority of our skilled trades will work through the shutdown preparing for the new work we are receiving.
Things are changing at a rapid pace throughout the UAW and GM. I encourage everyone to work together as always and we will get through these hard times.
A new special attrition package is being offered. Please consider this carefully. The Benefit Reps. are available to answer your questions.
Thank you for your continued support./s/ Don Reinhart
