FLINT PROCESSING CENTER

President : WALT DUVERNOIS (810)232-4136

Shop Committee Chairman : DAVE PERINA (810)635-6724

On Tuesday November 3rd, management informed the Shop Committee that they will be recalling seven of our Union Brothers and Sisters from lay off. This came about as the result of a surge in the Paint Shop schedule. Management expects to have enough work for these people to last at least 30 days.

Please remember to use your vacation time before the end of the year. Management will pay only V.R. days that are unused after December 31st. If you have any questions, see your Committeeperson.

On Tuesday, October 20th, Executive Director of SPO Global Warehousing, Charlie Hyndman, toured our Plant. Chairman Dave Perina accompanied him and told him we had the best work force in the industry and we needed more work along with more people! The tour went well and Charlie made a commitment to look into new work.

On Thursday, October 22nd Chairman Dave Perina and Personnel Director John Hulett attended a leadership conference in Detroit. Dave Perina continued on his mission to get more work for us by introducing John Hulett to C.E.O. Fritz Henderson and inviting him to tour our facility. This Shop Committee, along with our Sourcing Rep., continue to be committed to bringing any work to Flint SPO.

Our Unit Meeting for December 13th has been cancelled. However, there will be a General Membership Meeting for everyone wishing to attend at the Local 659 Hall at 1:00 pm.

Once again, the holiday season is upon us and along with spending quality time with family and friends, it is also a time to remember those less fortunate than we are. Flint SPO has traditionally been one of the most generous plants per capita when it comes to helping others. We are proud of this fact and hope you can find it in your hearts to help others that need our help so much.

We will be having a gate collection for all our Veterans on Wednesday, November 11th. This is the real "Veteran's Day". We will observe Veteran's Day on Monday, November 16th. This is a paid holiday for all of us. Please remember those who gave so much so that we could have what we have today. Thank you!

We are also taking up a collection for our own "Veteran" Andy McDowell from now until November 11th. There is a basket at the Gate 4 Entrance to donate any items that are needed. There is a list on the front of the basket. Your donations will be greatly appreciated.

The Annual "Old Newsboys" campaign kicked off on Wednesday, November 4th, and the paper sale will take place on Friday, December 11th. Anyone wishing to volunteer their time or their resources, please see Sheri Roberts or a Shop Committee member.

The Shop Committee would like to wish everyone a safe and Happy Thanksgiving holiday. We will have paid holidays on November 26th and 27th. Please take this opportunity to spend time with family and friends and give thanks for what we have in these trying times. Please remember those less fortunate than we are.

Good luck to all the deer hunters out there. Have a safe hunt. If you wish to donate your venison, there are local charities that will accept it.

In Solidarity,

/s/ Dave Perina, Shop Chairman
