GM-Service And Parts Operation

FLINT PROCESSING CENTER

President : WALT DUVERNOIS (810)232-4136

Shop Committee Chairman : DAVE PERINA (810)635-6724

General Motors recently announced the shutdown of many assembly and manufacturing plants for up to nine weeks. The impact here at SPO is not completely known at this time.

Second shift processing has been laid off again this week due to the downtime in our schedule. The Shop Committee continues to monitor this situation on a daily basis, and we will keep you updated as information becomes available.

The vacation sign-up period has been extended until May 29th, 2009. Much speculation surrounds this decision, including the possibility that we will be forced to use two weeks of our vacation for summer shutdown. The new Chrysler agreement provides the information that leads us to believe this may happen.

The Shop Committee, along with the sourcing team, continue to actively pursue more work for our location. The impact of "Project Enterprise" continues to be felt by all of us. Our workforce continues to be the best in the industry and we are committed to making sure everyone knows this!

On Monday, April 20th, 2009 management consolidated all the receiving operations in the service warehouse into 1st shift. We currently don't know what impact this will have on the business, but we will continue to monitor it. We appreciate any feedback that you may have regarding this process.

On May 13, 14 and 15th our V-CAP Dollar Drive Day will commence. Region 1-C will be here with a 2009 Chevrolet Malibu LTZ. We encourage everyone to purchase raffle tickets for a chance to win this vehicle made right here in the U.S. by our UAW Brothers and Sisters.

Thanks goes out to everyone who participated in the March of Dimes collection. Once again Flint SPO members proved that despite these difficult times, we realize there are those less fortunate than ourselves. We raised approximately $700.00.

On April 25th, members of the Shop Committee and the Appointed participated in the 5th Annual Arthritis Walk. We were successful in raising $200.00 for the cause. Our thanks goes out to all who donated and those who walked.

The Unit Membership Meetings along with the Joint Council Meetings have been suspended for June, July and August. If a need arises to have a meeting, we will call for one and have it posted.

In Solidarity,

/s/ Dave Perina, Shop Chairman
