Christmas Cards

Since 1961, we have been making our own Christmas cards. The only exception to our yearly issuance of cards was in 1974 when our church encouraged everyone to purchase cards that pictured our sanctuary.

Our first generation of cards was produced in a darkroom that was actually the vanity and sink in our bedroom -- we used simple contact printing techniques.

Our second generation of cards began in 1970 when we added on to our house -- this addition included a small basement which became our darkroom. Thus, we were able to expand our creative and production capabilities with an enlarger.

The current generation of cards started in 1992 when we decided that we wanted to have our cards in color. With all of the work being done with store produced enlargements of 35mm pictures, cut-outs, and more 35mm photography, the darkroom has been converted to a storage room.

When you click on "Christmas Cards" below, you will see all of the cards that we have produced. You will also see a very limited edition of an Easter Card (only three or four were mailed out.)

Christmas Cards

The tradition of making photographic Christmas cards dates back in our family to the early 1940's. By clicking on "History" below, you will see some early samples.
