LEEF 2005-2006 Calendar
A
Message from the President
2004-2005
Peter
Greenberg
We have reason to celebrate.
In four short years, the Longmeadow Educational Excellence Foundation
and its donors are continuing to make an impact on the educational
experience of our children. Their teachers have been awarded
nearly 80 grants totaling $230,000. All schools are represented
and most subjects have been supported. We are achieving our mission
to enhance the quality of Longmeadow's public schools. And it's
only going to get better.
Our Superintendent, Dr. Scott AndersEn has declared the LEEF-funded
John Collins Writing Program as the #1 district initiative for
K-12. LEEF has been a key partner here because we funded both
the initial evaluation grant at the elementary schools in 2004
for $13,000 and then approved an additional $30,000 grant this
year for teacher's district-wide. The Program goal is to provide
consistency throughout ALL grades in the way we speak, teach
and learn about writing. Ask your kids about it. It's happening
already. Now, that's what I call exciting! Your money is making
a difference.
Our long-term goal is to build a $2 million dollar endowment
to fund worthy projects that will help our teachers provide the
best education possible while working within the budgetary constraints
of our town. This year we will continue our efforts with a community/business
campaign, our annual phone-athon and a new alumni-giving opportunity.
Our popular LEEF Gala, in its fourth consecutive year is scheduled
for Friday November 18th at
Chez Josef. The theme for
the evening is "Cruising for Education." We hope to
see you all there.
Our Foundation is made up of volunteers. Parents like you and
I who want, in some way to make a contribution to their children's
education. I invite you to participate. Please contact us at
565-2109 or e-mail us at longmeadowleef@aol.com. Our children
are in the Longmeadow Public Schools for at least twelve years.
Help LEEF make those years the best they can be.
Together, WE will make
the difference!
Sincerely
Peter Greenberg
