It seems like they're everywhere - and they are. Television, newspapers, magazines, movies - all of these reflections of our culture are increasingly focused on extraterrestrial beings and the vehicles they travel in. While news and entertainment outlets have lavished attention on all matters extraterrestrial, one form of media has lagged behind. Curiously, it's the one that most often reflects issues and changes in our society - music.
Now third stone invasion arrives with an intense artistic vision, bringing this vital subject to the music world.
third stone invasion signed with J-Bird Music Group
in early 1998 to bring their powerful music and disturbing message to a
complacent world. Their debut CD includes the video for the song "Lazar,"
a video partially shot at the entrance to the infamous Area 51 in the
Nevada desert.

Their signing with J-Bird Records was reported in the "Newsmakers" feature of the Philadelphia Inquirer. One rock critic raved that "their sound is Black Sabbath warp-driven into the next century, with a fascinatingand frighteningtopic." Bob Hieronimus, on the popular 21st Century Radio show in Baltimore, promised his listeners, "Youll be hearing a lot about this band." The band is Third Stone Invasion. |
third stone invasion - or 3SI - is a musical collaboration that has recorded eleven songs for release on compact disc. The subject matter of the songs deals with extraterrestrial visitations, alien abductions, and questions about government activity in relation to this topic. Due to the serious nature of the band's lyrics, the approach of 3SI stands in marked contrast to most media appearances of this subject. 3SI is not a joke but a professional and highly-developed creation that merges powerful music and dramatic lyrical issues.
3SI was assembled throughout 1996 and 1997. Frank Moriarty (guitar, vocals) is the guiding force behind the project. A member of groundbreaking Philadelphia recording bands Informed Sources and Bunnydrums, Moriarty has been a leading music columnist for over ten years at both Philadelphia City Paper and Philadelphia Weekly and a contributor to numerous magazines. He has also written biographies of Jimi Hendrix, Johnny Cash, and Bruce Springsteen. His involvement in the music world as both performing artist and journalist has provided him the perspective and experience needed to bring this vital project to life.
Joining Moriarty in bringing the 3SI vision to reality are Rick Farnkopf (guitar, vocals), Bill Woolley (bass), Doug Mosko (drums), and Mitchell Mercurio (effects, treatments, keyboards). All have lengthy records of professional involvement in the music world, and all have participated in numerous recording bands, live performances, or multimedia projects.
