From the Tribute Wall, the tributes for Paul Lucey and Sara Treulaun read as follows:
In praise of . . . PAUL LUCEY Filled to overflowing with student, the Old Lowell (at Hayes and Masonic) saw the creation of three homerooms in room 306 in the fall of 1961 (the beginning of the last academic year in that historic building), Paul Lucey was the home room teacher for 306B--my homeroom. Tall, imposing, and businesslike, Lucey saw to it that we students began each school day armed with all the school-related information we needed. Additionally, he oversaw our education concerning the workings of a motor vehicle. Don't laugh! At that time, that type of driver's education was a requirement we had to meet. (No, I've never needed to know how a carburetor functions, but I did learn all about it during 1961-62.) My thanks, Paul Lucey, for having facilitated my welcome to Lowell and life as a high school student at San Francisco's most outstanding high school! Pernilla M. Neal Class of 1964 In praise of . . . SARA TRELAUN Walking to the main office to sign-in each weekday morning, wearing her dark glasses, Sally Trelaun personified Parisian mystery and glamour. Her charismatic presence added to the French ambiance prevailing in her classroom. Although I took only French with her, she encouraged my study and fascination with other foreign languages, especially Italian and Spanish. In fact, Trelaun allowed me to sit in on one of her upper level Spanish classes. What a thrill! . . . to get back my exams and see high marks on them. Reading and grading work for a student not officially registered in the class showed just how much Trelaun was willing to go above and beyond the call of duty as a teacher. Merci beaucoup, Madame! (Enfin, je suis allee en Italie, habitant la-bas pour huit ans. Naturellemente, j'ai reussi a voyager aussi en France. C'etait merveilleux!) Pernilla M.
