Welcome to the web-home of the Lower Bucks chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation!
About us...
We are based in Yardley, Bucks County, Pennsylvania. Our local chapter of the NWTF (www.nwtf.org) was started in 1998. The chapter, with the support of generous donors, has raised over $200,000 to support the NWTF mission. If you are a donor or member – we thank you for your support!
The National Wild Turkey Federation is a not-for-profit conservation organization dedicated to habitat management benefiting the wild turkey and other wildlife. The funds generated at this banquet will be used for conservation projects, land management and habitat acquisition right here in Pennsylvania. In addition, the NWTF sponsors several other programs nationwide. The JAKES program is geared towards teaching our youth about wildlife management, safety, ethics and preserving our hunting heritage. The Women in the Outdoors program is a popular program aimed at introducing women to outdoor recreational opportunities. The Wheelin Sportsmen program is an outreach program to introduce or re-introduce disabled people to the outdoors.
Our chapter has helped the Bucks County area in a variety of ways and your donations play a big part:
- Completed public land habitat improvement projects that help all wildlife and outdoor enthusiasts
- Sponsored/participated in youth activities like the Bucks County Youth Field Day (JAKES)
- Hosted a Wounded Warrior hunt – an all expenses paid, chapter-guided turkey hunt for a wounded veteran
- Hosted Women in the Outdoors (WITO) events to introduce women to outdoor recreation activities
- Gave material support to the Pennsylvania Game Commission law enforcement activities
- Provided a youth scholarship
- Adopted the intersection of I-95 and the Newtown bypass for highway cleanup
This local chapter and all other local chapters in PA, along with the PA state chapter (www.panwtf.org) were also a big part of the PA law changes allowing a mentored youth hunting program in PA – as part of the Families Afield Initiative.
