For School Year 2009-2010

Dear Parent(s)/Guardian(s):

I am delighted your son/daughter is in my Computer Applications II class this term. With your encouragement, your child will participate in and enjoy many exciting and rewarding experiences this academic term.

Since lifelong success depends in part on learning to make responsible choices, I have developed a Classroom Expectations Plan which will guide every student to make good decisions about his or her behavior. Your child deserves the most positive educational climate for his/her growth, and I know together we will make a difference in this process. The plan below outlines our expectations, positive recognition for appropriate behavior and consequences for inappropriate behavior. They are:

Expectations:

Positive Recognition: To encourage students to follow these expectations, I will recognize appropriate behavior with praises and an occasional reward.

Consequences: If a student chooses to break a rule, however, the following 3-Strike policy will be issued:

First strike: Warning.

Second strike: Timeout with student writing in a Behavior Journal.

Third strike: Sent to Mrs. Hastings.

**If a student enters class without a pass from their previous teacher, the student will receive a Tardy Slip to fill-out stating why they were late to class. If a student accumulates three (3) unexcused tardies, the student will receive a Teacher Detention (a Teacher Detention slip will be sent home with the student) to perform a Community Service. The Community Service can be: wiping down the tables, cleaning the computers, and collating papers. If the student chooses, instead of serving the Teacher Detention, the student can bring in one (1) non-perishable food item (canned fruit/vegetables, pasta, etc.) which will be donated to a local food pantry.

Be assured my goal is to work with you to ensure the success of your child this term. Please read and discuss this Classroom Expectations Plan with your child. Please feel free to contact me at any time [phone: (603) 432-6925 x3212; email: lparcell@londonderry.org].
