Welcome to the 8th Grade Computer Applications II Home Page at Londonderry Middle School!

The mission of the Computer Department is to help students explore and get the skills needed for a successful future.

Students who are entering our middle school have a variety of computer skills. There are many students who exceed computing fundamentals. Our goal for this course is to reinforce what has been taught in our 6th and 7th grade courses as well as provide some advanced computing skills.

Currently, Room 212 contains twenty-eight (28) Pentium computers using Windows XP and Microsoft Office 2003.

The skills developed in Computer Applications I are reinforced in this course. Topics covered include: Computer Ethics - Students will understand the ethical, cultural, and societal issues related to technology. Internet - Students will access the teacher’s classroom web page to complete a variety of worksheets about the Internet. An Internet Project will allow students to work as the content coordinator for a local radio station. Much of their work in this project involves the student to scout for information that can be used as between-music fillers, contests, news, and weather. The basics of HTML will be taught through tutorials by creating a Pizzeria web page and an All About Me web page. Lastly, I will be working with your son/daughter’s subject teachers to integrate computers/technology into their class assignments/projects.

I will be working together with your son/daughter's team to make his/her term with me a success. It is my hope that the following expectations are met with your help:

I look forward to working with you!
