OUR VISION

The First Presbyterian Church of Lansdowne will strive to be a true fellowship of believers, so filled with spiritual energy and joy that it cannot be contained within its family, but will over flow into the community as a totally contagious God-directed phenomenon.  This will be characterized by countless acts of kindness, expressions of compassionate caring, joyful laughter and a warm irresistible invitation to know the love of God as shown to us through Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit.

FOUNDED 1887

Parents will be enthused to bring their children and children will be excited to stay. The loving and creative message experienced in our Sunday School will be the foundation upon which each person will discover and use his or her unique gifts in service to God and one another. The Bible will be our guide.

We will be responsible stewards of our material and spiritual gifts, and will prayerfully use these gifts to the glory of God through mission, education, and care of our church home.

We will honor our Christian heritage, being ever grateful for the fervor, sacrifice and gifts of those who came before us. Respectful of tradition, we will yet be open to the many creative ways of worshipping our very creative God.

Our church family will know no boundaries or barriers regarding gender, age, economic status, ethnic origin, mental or physical limitation, sexual orientation, or religious background. Ours will be a church of inclusion, tolerance, forgiveness and flexibility, all growing from and nurtured by our faith. We will create a secure and welcoming haven for those seeking peace for their lives and souls.

FAREWELL TO OUR DEAR and BELOVED NANCY R.....

On March 30, we bade farewell to one of our favorite and most loved people….the reception was filled with laughter (Doesn’t Geri come up with the best “Top Ten” lists?!); great food (Thanks to Helen and Betsy and all the crew who helped them make this so beautiful and delicious); and a lot of love (When Nancy is around, love is ALWAYS present!).

Words cannot express the loss our congregation will feel—and the personal holes many of us will have in our hearts and lives as Nancy leaves.  Nancy has touched more people in our church and our community than most of us know; she has meant SO much to so many people.  But this is yet another opportunity to “Practice Resurrection” as we go through the pain to the opportunities….opportunities for her new life and possibilities for us to find ways to serve and love and “fill in the gaps and holes” that she leaves

NEW MEMBERS CLASS IS FORMING

Come to the manse to learn “Everything You EVER Wanted to Know About Being Presbyterian But Were Afraid to Ask!”  Truly, do you know what makes us different as Presbyterians?  (Hint – it’s not our theology – and it’s certainly not predestination!!).  Date and time to be announced.
