Sita was born here 25 years ago. So their next stop was to the Clinique where she was born. The people there again were most accommodating. They were able to view Sita's birth record. They discovered that the doctor who delivered Sita is still practicing. They visited him and photographed Sita with the doctor.
We spent the night on Goree island. We rented a beautiful old house -- four bedrooms, living room, kitchen, courtyard on three sides -- explored the island, had a wonderful dinner at Bouffler's -- home of the first French governor of what was then French West Africa.
The next night we threw a cocktail party for about thirty of their old friends and ours.
Today we're going over to Ngor island for lunch, a swim and a sightsee.
Tomorrow, Sunday, it's off the Keur Moussa -- the Benedictine Monastery -- for Latin/French mass accompanied by African musical instruments. Then a tour of Bandia, a game park. After that A & S and daughters will spend two nights on the beach at Sobo Bade, a cultural center, where they will take classes in pottery, African musical instruments and art.
Then it's off to St. Louis for a history tour and birdwatching.
Yes, there's a lot
to do here, and they're doing all of it. We're enjoying it just as much as
they are.
A la prochaine,
Chuck & Anne
