Johnson Family Photos

Pittsburg Co, Oklahoma

(Choctaw Nation, IT)

Included here are photos that have a connection to My Johnson line, either through bloodline or marriage.

Sallie Hargis is my Step-great Grandmother.  She raised my grandfather, Sam, and my Grand Uncle, Will, from the time the were small children.  My Great grandmother, Mary (Sam's mother), died when Sam was quite young.  I am still in search of the details, and where she is buried.  I expect she is buried in Savanna or Kiowa, Oklahoma.  Sam was born in Kiowa, IT.

Pinetop Cemetery

Pinetop is a part of the land that Sallie inherited after the death of her husband, my Great Grandfather, George W. Johnson. Located just south of Blanco, in Pittsburg Co, Oklahoma. Sallie wanted to designate part of the 45 acres of land to be used as a cemetery. Several family members are buried here, including Sallie and her son, George A., and many Wilson family members that I assume are related to Sallie. I have yet to see a complete list of all that are buried in this cemetery.

GEORGE ANDRES JOHNSON

This was the oldest child of Sallie J., and my Great Grandfather, George W. Johnson.

GEORGE A. JOHNSON

These photos were taken by cousin-in-law, Diana Morse. She said the headstone is in such good condition, that it would seem it could have been place just yesterday.

GEORGE A. JOHNSON

George was 21 when he passed away. Through research, I believe he died of an illness that was going around. Through census records, I have found that many young people died around that same time in 1913, near the Johnson farm. Too many to be coincidence.

GEORGE A. JOHNSON

The fence that was placed around the gravesite of George A. .. according to Diana, there seems to be another grave inside the fence, but we're not sure who it is.

INEY JOHNSON CLIFTON

This is the memorial card of Iney Clifton. She was the third child of Sallie and George W. Johnson. Iney died in 1918 while giving birth to her first child, Jr. Dow Clifton. We have not found a marker or gravesite for Iney, but at this point, I think it is safe to say, she is probably buried in Pinetop Cemetery.
