August 1999
There are no photo entries for the month of August, although this was the final turning point. I actually called the Hershey Medical Center and made an appointment for my first consultation. It seems the procedure flows something like this. You call the Weight Management Clinic and are sent a packet of information explaining all the different weight loss programs they have to offer. After you receive, read and digest all this information you are to call back for an appointment with the Registered Dietician for screening. I had already obtained all this "reading material" from the hospital 2 years ago and asked to forgo that step in lieu of making the first available appointment. They agreed and I got an appointment set for September 10th. It seems so long to wait for something that I've researched so heavily and am totally prepared for. I am presently following the LA Weight loss program and losing consistently, but I know this will just be another yo-yo to add to my collection. So I am proceeding with my plans to aggressively seek out WLS as a tool for a permanent change for my life.
Late August - Early September : I contacted the Registered Dietician at the Hospital and asked what I could bring to our original consultation to help expedite my processing. She noted a few helpful items such as results of a fasting blood work, food records, documentation of past failed diet attempts, referral letters from physicians, etc. I had my work cut out for me...but I got to work...and gathered everything possible for that initial consultation.
