Alternate B Server Rules

1. Be civil to each other
2. No verbal abuse in open chat
3. No "F" word. This includes disguising the "f" word by using symbols instead of the letters. It's the same thing as using the word and everyone knows what you mean so stop it.
4. No prolonged arguing in open chat.
5. Spying for another race will NOT be tolerated. You may change races during a game, but you must not under any circumstances jump back and forth. Any player caught doing so will have their IP address banned. (key item is jumping back and forth, usually many times an hour)
6. Games will not last longer than three (3) weeks as both the players and the admins begin to grow weary of the campaign after that point.
7. There is an issue on the server that is causing Eudoxia and I a great deal of aggravation. There are many players that play the game fairly without alting. They might go through 3 or more ships in a game defending their space or trying to take new space for their team. Is it fair to them to allow a player in the game that is going to run around taking their space and planets without ever risking his ship because he will just alt out every time he is losing, so he never pays any penalty? We don't think so. We have tried since the beginning of this server to avoid having too many rules. We have tried to keep the rules simple ones that are easily enforced.

However, we find that it is necessary to add a rule against alting because some players are taking advantage of the absence of a rule against it.

Alting is prohibited as follows:
a. No alting will be allowed in PvP (unless the opposing player specifically states that you may alt)
b. In the event that a player alts, upon re-entering the server, they must self-destruct their ship
c. If they fail to self-destruct, the opposing player may send a screenshot to the admins, who will try their best to determine if alting occurred.
d. Should it be determined that the player alted, the player will be banned from the server for the remainder of the existing campaign

This rule can only be enforced by the administrators of the server. Moderators may forward any information or screenshots to the administrators.

8. Cease-fires may not be announced in the forums. If you and another race determine that you will not attack each other while you are on the server, that is fine. But all players may not agree to this cease-fire and expecting them to do so is wrong. The only way long-term cease-fires or alliances would work is if we added "Official" race leaders and "Official" assistant race leaders which we are not willing to do at this time. Obviously, there are veteran players on Alternate B that other players respect and look to for direction.
9. Each races homeworld is protected. It is not to be attacked in any event nor are any battles to occur there, even if it's the last hex that race has left. This is a rule unique to this server because we don't believe a race should ever be eliminated from being able to play. Everyone should have a sanctuary.
10. Alternate B is alternating games between LOS and Non-LOS. Please check the "Server Rules" thread on our forums for the current game rules regarding LOS.

When LOS is in effect, the LOS rules that Alternate B will be using are described below. All players will need to read and understand these rules before joining.

a. LOS means Line of Supply. You may not attack an enemy planet or base, or take any missions or battles in any hex that is more than one hex from a friendly hex, and that friendly hex must have unobstructed LOS (a direct line) back to a friendly planet or base.

b. To allow for PvP (player vs. player) battles, players can fly freely in neutral space. While in neutral space only PvP battles are allowed. No PvP battle should take place in a hex with less than 10 dv (defensive value). No missions or battles with AI are allowed. And no battles or missions are allowed on the neutral planets. All Planet/Base assaults must be done within LOS. So everyone is clear about this one, the whole idea behind LOS is that you can only advance your space and take planets while being in LOS. If this rule is abused in any way, the punishment can be more severe, including being banned for the rest of the campaign.

c. Scouting is the only exception to allow a player to fly out of LOS into enemy space. To scout though, the player must make a general chat announcement that they are about to scout before they enter enemy space and be flying a CL or FF class ship. They must fly alone (no wing and no base delivering allowed). They cannot take ANY missions or fight ANY battles. If attacked they MUST forfeit.

d. No leaving planets neutral so the defending race can't take them back.

e. Player made alliances will not void the LOS rule. Only alliances approved by the server administrators as a formal alliance will allow players to attack/run missions out of LOS.

f. If at any time a player is not sure of the LOS rules, please ask before taking a chance. The first violation of LOS will be a warning. After that a player will be removed from the game for 48 hours. A third violation will be a server ban for the remainder of the campaign.
