The Lee's Summit Guild
You may be asking yourself a few questions at this point. Like, what is the Lee's Summit Woodworker's Guild, what do they do, what issues are important to them, how often do they meet, how much is it going to cost me? These are all interesting questions, and hopefully they will be answered here.
The Lee's Summit Guild has a membership of about 130 people. We meet once a month on the second Tuesday of every month, except December. We do not meet in December. Our average attendance ranges from 60 to 100 people per meeting. We do not require membership in order to attend our monthly meetings, but we do encourage it.
Annual membership dues are $15.00 and are based on a calendar year. At mid year, the price is $7.50. This membership entitles you to the newsletter which is published once a month. Membership may also entitle you to discounts at local retailers in the area. Most of the membership dues goes to help cover various costs associated with the guild, such as rental space for the meeting, publishing of the newsletter, and postage for mailing the news letter. If you check around, I think you'll find the dues are quite reasonable. We do allow our visitors and guests to receive two months free of the newsletter. This gives them a chance to learn more about us and decide if its something they are truly interested in, before joining.
One of the Lee's Summit Guilds primary functions is the toy project. A lot of the guilds functions and fund raising, revolves around the toy project. For more information on the toy project, check it out on the toy project page.
Our guild meetings last about two hours. We start promptly at 7:00 p.m. and go till 9:00 p.m. People usually start gathering at 6:30 p.m. to socialize, The first 30 to 45 minutes guild business is attended to. This could consist of any announcements, making/approving motions on guild business, a treasurers report, updates on the progress of the toy project, and any other issues the attendees wish to discuss openly.
After guild business is concluded, we conduct a time of show and tell. Guild attendee's are allowed to bring projects they've worked on and tell the group about them. It's a great way to showcase your talents, raise questions, as well as get feedback from fellow
