(somewhat) About Roger- (updated 12/05)

Left Brain

Formally trained in the fields of Science Education (B.S.) and Psychology (M.A.), and after teaching Biology and Earth Sciences in the public school system, Roger took the seemingly mandatory career step for his generation, and began working in the computer field. Combining his knowledge and experience of teaching with that of computers, he taught computer classes as an independent contractor for a few years in the Philadelphia area. After working full time in the corporate training world for a few more years, he decided to once again become an independent contractor, this time with an emphasis on small database application development and private, in-house tutoring. Having his own consulting company, he also set aside time to be involved with for the Philadelphia local music scene. It was during this time that Lucid Music was created, originally as a business/management resource for local musicians.

Currently a Project Manager at Comcast Cable in Philadelphia, Roger has worked as a consultant, systems analyst, or manager for many area companies, including: Electronics Boutique HQ, Pep Boys HQ, QVC HQ, Smith-Kline Beecham, Bristol-Myers Squibb, Arm and Hammer, Rohm and Haas, GMAC, Peirce-Phelps, and Gillette. He continued to be involved in the music scene in a variety of roles throughout the years, most recently as a freelance photographer.

Right Brain
(no, you don't get a color legend)

Trumpet player: high school through college. Track and Field 800 meter specialist
(and part of 3200 relay team record holder - woo hoo!)
"Don't even have pictures, just memories, to hold."
Determined to learn to play the guitar: failed repeatedly.
"Hamlet... in love... with the old man's daughter... the old man... thinks. "
Picked up a
bass guitar: there were simply too many strings
too small and too close together on all other guitars.
"I should've learned, to play the GUIT-ar.
Should've learned, to play them drums."
Once every few blue moons plays bass in a
piano/bass/drums/vocals project. Plays trumpet: once every third sixth year
(or so) for the
Penn State Alumni Blue Band
(usually when the homecoming football game promises to be exciting).
these pretzels are making me thirsty!
Plays
roulette when in casinos, "Ain't gonna spend the rest of my life
quietly fading away."
even though Left Brain screams "It's the game
with the worst odds!"
Tarot and psychic readings; "And can't you see my faded Levis,
burstin' apart?"
dreams as a guide to life (occasionally lucid).
"1.21 GIGAWATTS!?! 1.21 gigawatts! Great Scott!!!"
Attuned to
Reiki: Master-level Practitioner.
Reads and rereads
quantum physics books looking for the lost instruction manual "Believe it or not,
I'm walkin' on air!"
for the human experience.

"Man that ball got outta here in a hurry. I mean anything travels that far oughta have a damn stewardess on it, don't you think?"

Grad school: Psychology, worked night shift, studied (and practiced)
sleep deprivation, dissociation, and lucid dreaming.
"chicken: good." "supergreen!"
struck by lightning, nearly drowned, slammed into a cliff like Wyle E. Coyote,
been broken, sprained, torn, dislocated, syncopy-ated, probed, fractured, concussed,
opened up a few times... and I'm still kickin'!!

Formerly- Rock climbing, white-water rafting, sky-watching, racquetball, M:TG.
Recently- Cross-country skiing,
T'ai Chi, Reiki, "Really love your peaches,
want to shake your tree."
running, bowling, digital photography.
Always-
bicycling, poetry, running, pondering the meaning of scientific advances,
(quantum physics and string theory junky), movies, music, movies
What the Bleep do we (k)now!?, music, movies, music.

Holistic

The Corpus Collosum being what it is, Roger combined
his computer experience and music interests by creating an Internet music review site
in 1999 called the Lucid Music Connection. This developed into Lucid Music,
an independent label, when a friend's band parted ways with their existing label.

He donated much time to musicians as a computer, business, or a label consultant
from 1998-2002. Lucid Music was not designed to be a self-supporting company,
so Roger still works full time for 'the man', but continues to keep an ear out for music worth sharing,
and an eye out for ways he can help support local music. Most recently he achieves this through
combining a long-time interest and current side project, photography, with the local live music scene.
