Hotel Accommodation suggestions
There are many hotels near the Rose Quarter area are within walking distance to the Rose Quarter. Most visitors do not need rental cars as parking is not easy near Rose Quarter area.
Walking is very easy in the Rose Quarter area. City blocks in Portland are relatively short in distance as the city wants to encourage people to walk within the city. It takes about 1 minute to walk in 1 city block! Very short walk from block to block.
Portland's MAX light rail system is well developed. Visitors can take the Max from the airport (PDX) directly to hotels in the Rose Quarter area and Downtown area. The Max fare is $1.60 one way. You can visit TriMet for detailed bus and Max information.
Max is FREE for riders traveling in the downtown area and the Rose Quarter area!!
Because of the convenience of the Max line. I recommend hotels that are close to the Max line near Rose Quarter area and Downtown area.
First, I'll list the hotels near Rose Quarter area. This is a map of the 8 hotels that are close to the Rose Quarter.

Rose Quarter and Memorial Coliseum
This is the main entrance of the Rose Quarter

I took these photo outside the Rose Quarter entrance area. You can see these people are walking from the Max station to the Rose Quarter. I then turned around and took the photo of the same group of people as they walked to the arena.

Rose Quarter and Memorial Coliseum are right next to each other. I don't know if Portland will follow Atlanta's decision to skip the second practice rink. The original proposal was to use Memorial Coliseum as the practice rink. So we'll have to wait and see. If Memorial Coliseum is the second practice rink, we can just walk from Rose Quarter to Memorial Coliseum. There is no traffic in between these 2 buildings, except emergency vehicles and shuttles. I took the following picture outside the Rose Quarter entrance. Portland LOC will provide shuttle service to officials and skaters from the hotels to the arena. The general public will have to walk or take public transportation to the arena from the hotels.
