My close-up first run-in with the breed was when I was training for Shorthairs with Jody Garrison at a show in St. Louis, MO. There was a feisty little 4 month old female kitten that I fell in love with. Later, after the show, I tried to get the little girl from Patti, to no avail, as she was critical to her breeding program. I did share a litter with Patti and one of the girls from that litter went on to become a Regional Winner in the Midwest Region, she was: GC, RW Shadowland's It Happened 1 Nite, the 14th Best Kitten in the Midwest for 1999-2000. The first Bombay came to the house in 2001, she is GRP Shadowland's Firefly of Luvlypurr, a spay from Patty DeWitt. The second Bombay that came into the house was: GC, DW Shadowland's Allegra of Brumar. She had a little bit more of a show career. She was 5th Best Kitten in the International Division in 2002-03 and was the first Bombay to be shown in Europe. She was also, 3rd Best of Breed in the Midwest Region that year. She has come to provide Firefly with some company after the loss of two other retired cats running the house.
