February 21, 2005... Finally a
picture of Rory as Freck from A Scanner Darkly
has surfaced! A little article about the movie can be found HERE.

Thanks to
mjrising for the heads up.
October 25, 2004... Rory was
mentioned again in the Who's News section of
USA Weekend (Oct22-24). A reader wrote in to ask "Why was Rory
Cochrane's
character killed on the season premiere of CSI: Miami? The answer was:
"Cochrane, 32, tells us he wanted
out of a six-year contract and CBS graciously
obliged. "I really have
to tip my hat to those guys who do those shows for, like
six or eight years," he says. "I am just not cut out for that."
October 5, 2004... Just a
reminder that there is a small segment in the next
weeks TV Guide that talks about Rory's character Tim Speedle being
killed off
of CSI Miami. It's in the Insider, page 8 and I have scanned it and you
can now
find that in the Extras section of this site.
Septmember 26, 2004 - In the
3rd
season premiere episode of CSI: Miami, Rory's
character Tim Speedle was indeed killed off. Judging
from the content of emails I have
received the past week couple of weeks, Rory fans are
none too happy with the
way the powers that be decided to let him go. And Rory
himself wasn't too impressed
with the way they chose to end his character. In an interview with CSI
FILES,
Rory said, "No, I
actually thought it was
pretty lame to be honest with you. They
have all these creative ways
that people die [in Miami]. A main character on the show--
I thought they could have come up with
something a little more imaginative. Getting
shot--anybody can think of
that." When asked what he
thought of his character Speed's
failure to clean his gun, Rory
replied, "I
gotta be honest with you, I thought it was totally
lame, but what can you do?
It's not up to me." You can
read the
interviewin it's
entirety over at CSI FILES.
Thanks Christian.
August
17, 2004 - Well, I've
prolonged this announcement as long
as possible. It has been reported by
Entertainment Tonight that a castmember
will be exiting CSI: Miami
in the first episode of the upcoming
season. This was
reported from the Houston Chronicle online, "Look
for Rory
Cochrane to exit his
role as Speed on CSI: Miami this season. By his choice,
he'll be written out of the
hit CBS drama. He wants to do
movies, instead." Well, there you have it.
CBS has
not confirmed that is Rory leaving the show. This could be because they don't want
to give
away such a big spoiler to the show, as
it has been rumoured that the
departing castmember would
be killed off. I'm sure we
all wish Rory much success
with his future endeavors
and hope
to see him in many movies in the
years to come.
May 6,
2004 - According to
Yahoo Movie News, Rory has signed on to
another Richard
Linklater film. From
this article, I take it Rory will just be doing voicework,
but I could be
mistaken. Here is the
article. "A Scanner
Darkly, the Warner Independent Pictures
semi-animated drama to be helmed by Richard Linklater, has
added major star power to
its voice cast. Winona Ryder, Robert Downey
Jr.. WoodyHarrelson and Rory
Cochrane
have just signed on, joining Keanu Reeves. The script, adapted from a Philip K. Dick novel,
is about an undercover drug officer (Reeves) in the future who becomes
addicted and
develops a split
personality. The original novel was reportedly influenced by the drug
experiences of the author. The hits Total
Recall and Minority Report were also adapted
from Dick novels. Scanner
scenes will be filmed in traditional
live-action style, then
Linklater will turn the footage into animation,
using the same technique he used in
Waking Life."
February
9, 2004 - This
weekend's USA Weekend newspaper insert had a
quick
tidbit on
Rory in the Who's News section. That's a page where people
write in and ask
questions
about celebrities. Thanks to Jake, you can find a scan of it HERE.
December
16, 2003 - There is a page on Rory in next weeks TV Guide
(Dec. 20-26).
It is
included in their segment "The Hunky Men of CSI", that features
all the young male
castmembers
of both CSI and CSI: Miami. You can see Rory's segment HERE.
November
17, 2003 - This weeks CSI: Miami gets them their second #1
spot ever in the
Nielson's

November
12, 2003 - Nielsen Media's Top 20 for the week of November
3-9 has
Rory's
show CSI: Miami at Number 4 with 14,258,000 households tuning in.
November
4, 2003 - The Dinner For Five episode with Rory aired again
last night and
it made TV
Guide Online's Watercooler feature. This is what they had to
say...
"Vince Vaughn is
one crazy interrogator. In 45 frighteningly hilarious seconds,
the ld
School star
went from
friend to foe and brow-beat a nervous-smoking Rory
Cochrane of CSI:
Miami into
telling a
true-but-really-uncomfortable story about the
time he
went to live with a Mexican guy
he met in a
phone booth. "Didn't you, when
you first got here, move in with some family you
met in a
phone booth?" Vaughn grilled.
"Isn't that true? It's true! Isn't it?" It was brutal and
cruel and
funny as all get-up.
Dark minutes like that make me like
this show, even though they
never talk
about
the food which really, by the way, annoys me."
September
29, 2003 - Rory Cochrane and fellow CSI: Miami cast members get
inteviewed
on the CBS Early Show. Rory said, "I love Miami. Miami is
great, and of course
it's great
to be on a successful show." You can read the entire article
about it HERE.
September
22, 2003 - Rory Cochrane and Adam Rodriguez of CSI: Miami were
guests
at a
pace-car outing in Key Biscayne, Florida. The event is part of the
weeklong festivities
that proceed
this weekends Grand Prix Americas champ car races. Rory and
Adam are in
Miami for the
filming of an episode of CSI: Miami before and during the
racing weekend
that will feature several
champ car racers. After getting to drive a few laps around a
closed
course Rory said, "That
was
incredible. It was a great experience. I hope that I get a
chance
to take a ride in
the pace car around the Miami track. It was really a lot of
fun." For more
info check
out cart.com.
Photos from this event are up in the Pictures section.
September
22, 2003 - The second season premiere of CSI: Miami gets a
ratings
average of
11.8/18 for CBS. This is said to be down 13% from the series
debut one
year ago.
This still wins the time slot for CBS against the new NBC
show,
Las
Vegas and ABC's Monday Night Football.
On
September 8th Rory Cochrane was a guest on Dinner For Five. D45 is a
show
hosted by
Jon Favreeu on the Independent Film Channel. It is a
roundtable
discussion
show featuring actors and directors and people in the film
industry as guests.
Rory was a
guest along with fellow actors Vince Vaughn, Cole Hauser and
Brian Cox.
There are
screen captures featuring Rory up in the Pictures section.
