THE

MANGUM-MANGHAM MANGRUM

JOURNAL

The Mangum Family Bulletin began publication in 1969 as a "ditto" purple print quarterly. The bulletin was put on hold in 1992 (after 38 issues) while I published my two books. I have re-started the bulletin under the above name. The first issue of the Journal (January 2000) was sent out beginning in mid-December 1999. It has been given the number '39' for compatibility with the old "Mangum Family Bulletin". The Journal continues to print "Mangum" and related spelling information, the same as the old bulletin, but also information on related English surname. The first few issues emphasized the exciting new information we have obtained concerning the origin of the surname(s). We have obtained extensive English records, which point to specific 'old word' families and places for those origins. This work has been pursued enthusiastically by Mr. Timothy Mangham of Oroville, California in cooperation with several English researchers, primarily Mr. Colin Mangham and his wife Dorothy of Bury, England. The Journal in late 2003 began printing the results of our DNA research efforts, including DNA tests from various English participants.
The exact number of pages to be included in the journal will vary. Issues to date (Dec. 2005)vary from 23 to 60 pages. As in the old Mangum Family Bulletin, there will be the "Editor's Corner", and an assortment of wills, deeds, census records, marriage records, articles and other useful information. We also plan to print a large amount of English records, including wills dating back to the 14th century.
The Journal will primarily be an electronic journal. Subscribers will be able to download their issues from my website, using a link I send out when each Journal is ready. Subscribers can store or print out the Journals as they desire. THE JOURNAL IS FREE IF YOU DOWNLOAD IT!
In special situations, and by individual special arrangement, the Journal can be had as traditional paper copies. This will require a fee to cover the expense of copying and mailing.

The Journal was a quarterly publication but is now published semi-annually in June and December. It may revert to irregular issues sometime in the future. If you have a Mangum related book or other publication, we will advertise it for you for free. Please consider sending in your new lineage or lineage update for the Family Registry, a query and any source records you might have in your files. Send me an e-mail message if you wish to subscribe.

The Journal issues are available in three versions:

      a. Microsoft Word 97, single file usually between 1.0 & 2.0 MBs. This is the best format for the Journal.

      c. HTML files (.htm) readable by your Internet browser, i.e. Mozilla Firefox, Internet Explorer, etc. Size about up to about 1-3 MBs. For those who do not have Microsoft Word 97 (or later version).

      c. Adobe Acrobat files (.pdf) readable by Adobe's free Acrobat Reader. Size about up to about 1-4 MBs. .
