Are You Good Enough To Go To Heaven? The world has deceived us into thinking we are all "good people", and that there is no right or wrong. Everyone, but especially young adults are falling for this terrible lie. There is no real truth - it is all relative, and what's right for me might not be right for you. Do you think people are innately good? Really?!? Therefore, I take it, children would be born good. So we must have to TEACH them to be bad! Can you imagine a father instructing his toddler son: "Johnny, Johnny, you're sharing again! Stop that!" Perhaps you think you ARE a good person, well, you may have done a few things wrong, but nothing big. Would you take a short test to see how good you are? The "Are You A Good Person" Test:
Like everyone else, if you are honest with yourself, you had to have answered yes to these questions, and so you have violated at least 4 of the 10 Commandments in this short quiz, Commandments given by God to His people. Before God, you are a lying, thieving adulterous blasphemer! The Bible says that it is appointed to each person once to die (sorry, reincarnationists!) and then be judged. At the end of our life, we will stand before the Holy and Righteous Judge of the universe, and all the thoughts, deeds and words of our entire life will be opened for all to see. He will then judge us against His perfect righteous standard. If He was to judge you right now on the basis of the Ten Commandments, would He find you innocent or guilty? But you say, God is loving, so he will overlook my sin. Think of our legal system - You are standing before a judge, and you have been convicted of murder, theft, rape, assault. You say to the judge, "Yes, I did those things, but I believe you are a good and loving judge, so you will overlook them, and let me go." If he IS a good judge, he MUST punish you. So, yes, the Bible says God is loving, but it also says that God is righteous, just and perfect, and His perfection cannot co-exist with our sin. In perfect justice, he MUST find us guilty. We are unable to stand in His presence on our own. We must be aware of our sin, and feel the full weight and measure of our misdeeds before a Holy Creator God. Finding you guilty, will He send you to Heaven or Hell? An honest answer is that He would send us to Hell. What do you know about Hell? The Bible says it's a terrible place, where there will be weeping and gnashing fo teeth. It is eternal torment, it is eternal separation from all that is good. It goes on and on and on, and it is fitting punishment for a condemned person. In fact, in the Bible Jesus said more about Hell than He did about Heaven. The Bible also says that God isn't willing that ANYONE should perish. He has graciously provided a way for you to come to Him.
Jesus said, "He who believes in me is not condemned; he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God. |
