Records show that the LYNN/LINN surname has appeared in Prince William Co., Virginia as early as the 1750's. Most LYNNs appear to have descended from Michael and William, who were quite probably brothers. There is also a possibility that John Lynn of Fauquier Co. (once part of Prince William Co.) may have been a brother or close relation.
This site is my attempt to help other LYNN researchers who may be able to trace their ancestry to Prince William and its neighboring Northern Virginia counties. These pages are by no means complete and are constantly under construction.
Sources for the information contained herein include county court records, wills, deeds, marriage and tax records, obituaries, cemeteries, Virginia Bureau of Vital Statistics records, census, WPA reports, pensions, various books on Prince William County, and the invaluable book My Lynn Families (2d ed., 1977) by George H. Lynn.
It is my hope that LYNN researchers browsing these pages will find useful information and/or new resources herein.
