She teaches a modified Grandjany (French pedal harp) technique appropriate for the beginning lever or pedal harpist. Jennifer was taught by the well-known Marion Fouse of Portland OR, and has been teaching harp since 1998. Lessons include technique, theory, history, arranging, composition, improvisation, performing, and most important, having fun with your instrument! No musical experience is necessary, but it is very helpful. Children are ready to begin harp when they can hold their fingers properly against the tension of the strings, starting at about age 10. Jennifer has recently published a beginner's tutorial titled "Hands Upon the Harp," which introduces basic technique and simple Mode theory as well. It is never too late to start something wonderful!
