Author's note on Gould, Colorado: A large part of this fictional story is set in the tiny but real north-central Colorado town of Gould. Nestled in a high mountain valley between state park land and Routt National Forest, Gould is obviously a place full of scenic beauty and the peace of life on the edge of the wilderness. Snowmobiling and hiking maps are readily available, so the Gould and the North Park area of Colorado seems like a pretty cool place. Any similarity to real persons or business establishments is coincidental and not intended by the author.

In order to provide a cleaner story line, the following things were done: the terrain of Routt National Forest and the North Park area was altered slightly and places renamed, Cameron Pass was moved west of town, and the Colorado State Highway system was redesigned. Hey, they do it all the time in the movies.
