Welcome To M-Minis Ranch

My name is Janet and I have a small place (hence the name Minis Ranch) located in Slaterville, Utah which is just about 5 miles west
of the Golden Spike Fair Grounds and Arena in Ogden, UT. From here you can see the beautiful Wasatch Mountains. My husband
and I first started this place in 1995 and our love for the miniature horse really started here and also the name. We first fell in love
with the miniature horses when we went to a county fair to watch my daughter Luwana show her newly acquired minis. These
little equine with the big hearts got under our skin and we just had to have one! We had met many new friends of the mini world
and soon was set on buying 2 brothers from Vern and Phyllis Ames. This started us in this adventure that we have never been
sorry for. The first 2 minis we purchased were 2 half brothers named Bar Double S Duch and Bar Double S Duke. We thought
they were the best little guys in the world. Not so as we have had many we have loved over the years. We began showing them
in every class we could and even though we didn't know what we were doing, we did okay! We did halter, in hand obstacle
and jumping. My husband did the driving. We were told by a friend that George was the only one who could stand in the
arena doing nothing and still win with his horse! Maybe it was his personality they liked best. These 2 minis were our family but
it was soon decided to sell Duke as he didn't like the arena anymore and so he went to make his home in Lake Tahoe. Duch we
went on and Hall of Famed him in everything possible. During this time, we also bought 3 other minis who needed a home, but
were kind of wild. It was fun to let them know we loved them and had nothing to fear. When they were gentle we sold them
and moved on. We bought and sold many over the years, but enjoyed every minute of it. We went from 2 to 16 and then down
again. Kind of like a yoyo until we learned what we were doing and what to look for. Duch, our first to Hall of Fame, was
eventually sold to a youth so he could go on showing. She had chosen to queen for the American Miniature Horse Registry
of the USA and she drove Duch and she won Youth National Obstacle Driving in Tulsa, OK in 2008. Duch passed
away unexpectedly the next month. We were so proud of what they accomplished together! George (my husband), passed
away in March 2009.
