Change Your Life?

In a
world where the voice is bigger than the man...
Don Lafontaine is someone virtually everyone on this planet knew
based on the sound of his voice. But in spite a recent appearance
in a car insurance commercial, you probably would have no idea what
his name is or what he looked like.
Why does his death change your life? Lafontaine is responsible for
the voice over work in virtually every single movie trailer you
see. He arguably may have had one of the best jobs of all time. If
you were cutting together a trailer for your film, it was a
foregone conclusion, you schedule Lafontaine in to do the voice.
Probably unfairly associated with the infamous phrase “In a
world...” which tended to begin a lot of film trailers Lafontaine
was also responsible for hundreds of thousands of voice overs
throughout his career. It would be fair to say that most people in
the United States hear his voice multiple times a day almost every
day.
I think that 6 months from now or so you’re going to notice he’s
gone. You’ll be asking yourself “What happened to these movie
trailers?” You’ll see an ad for a big budget action flick and an
unfamiliar voice is going to jar you to reality for a second. You
may not know why, buy you’ll be wondering why it doesn’t sound
right?
I’m pretty bummed about old, Don.
