macdan crappy TiBook wifi reception leads to TiRabbitEars I got irritated with my DVI TiBook's wifi reception and decided to try alternate antennae.

Here's my first shot, a clamshell iBook antenna set taped to the display back, with the cable running in through the PC card slot.

Later I cut a notch in the case back and ran the cable in there.

Works good, but the antennae got in the way, making it a PITA to get into a travel case. So I figgered some retractable jobbies might work better, and they do. Like the cool colors?

It's an inch-long section of drinking straw taped to the display back, with another section of slightly smaller diameter flex drinking straw encasing the actual antenna. The antenna/flexstraw slides up and down inside the taped-on bit of straw. Works quite well, cheap and cheerful even if not exactly the most esthetically pleasing.
