WHAT I'M READING

My latest "discovery" is
X-Statix by Peter Milligan and Michael Allred. I picked up nearly every back issue (including the X-Force version) at the Heroes Convention in Charlotte, NC this year. (Ironically, I bought them because I found them for half-price only to discover after the con that I had mistakenly bought doubles of nearly every issue.) The thing I like most about this book (other than Allred's unique art style) is the soap opera aspect of the book. They're celebreties, first and superheroes second. They're all (with an exception or two) petty, bickering, flawed characters. Just like real celebreties. A lot of folks dropped X-Force when these guys took over because it was completely different from what they were used to from their X-books. And that's precisely why I started picking it up.
