I completed attaching the lake side deck ledger board with 1/2" x 6" galvanaized lags. I attached the ledger through the existing joist hangers at an angle that then went through the ends of the original cantilevered joists. I had to go at an angle since the deck joists were centered in front of the cantilevered joists in the house.
