Established in
1993, the Sacramento Maharlika Lions Club currently has more
than 50 men and women m embers who volunteer their time to
perform a variety of community and humanitarian service
activities.
Lions Clubs
International (LCI)
is the world’s largest service club organization
with 1.3 million members in more than 200 countries.
LCI is a network of Individual club united in helping each
other. Worldwide, Lions Clubs are recognized for their service to the
community and the visually impaired.
Maharlika Lions has
a strong commitment to young people. We present youth
scholarships through local organizations like the
Outstanding
Filipino Youth Awards. We sponsor Student Speakers and Peace Poster
contests, and International youth exchange programs.
We make
monetary contributions for cancer research, diabetes awareness,
battered women shelters like
My Sister's House and the Habitat
for Humanity. We provide eyeglasses for the needy and free
professional glaucoma screenings, We volunteer thousands of
hours to community involvement such as serving hot lunches at
the Loaves and Fishes; gathering blankets and jackets for the
homeless; participating in the state’s creek's clean up program
and more.
Lions club
members enable clubs to meet diverse local and international
needs. Individually and together with their clubs, Lions take on
projects as varied as cleaning up the neighborhood park
while they also combat international issues, develop
relationships and fulfill their potential.
Outside the Sacramento area,
Maharlika Lions supports
farm workers that live in the poorest areas of Yolo, Fresno and
Salinas. Overseas, we hold surgical, medical and dental
missions to help those without access to healthcare. |
