Back to school?

By Samantha Perez

Thursday Ė Bossier City, Louisiana (10:30 p.m.) --

I might get to finish school!

My cousin Kristy talked to her old college friend today, a man named Jeff. His mother lives only about an hour away from where we are now, and she offered us a place to park the new camper my dad bought for us. There was a camper lot across from the hotel. Dad bought one of the last two. Itís small, but I think itís nice. Itís like being a gypsy and living in a dollhouse.

Kristy mentioned how I donít have a school anymore, and Jeffís mother offered to talk to her friend, a member of this schoolís board of directors. Itís called LSMSA, the Louisiana School for Math, Science, and the Arts. Itís only for juniors and seniors, and you have to live in a dorm. Iím nervous about that because I canít sleep at all around other people, but itís worth it ó to finish school!

Tomorrow, I have to go to the school for an interview. I need to wear something nice, but I donít know if I have anything pretty enough to make a good impression. All my nice clothes were things we had to leave at home. God, I hope I get in. I really want to finish school. Itís a very good school, too. The curriculum is ďchallenging.Ē I hope if I do get in, Iíll do well there.

I might get to finish school! Iím so excited! I canít believe it!

Iím going to bed. I canít wait to thank Jeffís mom. I hope I get in. Dad says itíd be very good for everything that I get in to this school. He wants me to go there so badly. I donít want to let anyone down. Iím nervous.

I guess Iíll just have to see how tomorrow goes.
