A sample of Pit Pinegar's poetry

An excerpt from "Reinventing Fire," a poem taken
from 'Nine Years Between Two Poems' ---

  Saudi Arabia

I'd have cut myself down, burned myself
limb by limb for a little heat.
And did. Vitality thaws against fox,
kindles in dolphin song, flares with white
     light
of stars. Heart's blood leaps up
  through rowan tree,
        flame crowning ash.
