Mount Airy Learning Tree's Computer Volunteer Group

Computer Volunteer Group Activities Conducted on June 26, 2002
At Mount Airy Presbyterian Church

Discussion of our Computer Camp Deadlines.
By July 15th we will need
Internet cable connection
Router setup
Connection Sharing
Dell's imaged
and the B side of the room set up.

We will be going to The Germantown YWCA in August instead of the projected date of July. Wes was the only person to go to the Y this week.
He installed NIC cards in several machines.
The portable cd drive is at the Y.

The group split into three teams:
the configuration team- Annetta and Marty
testing team- Gloria and Eric
the networking team- Susan and Wes.
Adonica arrived later and went with the configuration team.

The networking team asked to find two machines and write down the specs for one of the Compacs and one of Quantex machines also to determine if there were modems, or conflicts with Video drivers, Monitors and adaptor settings.

There was a lecture concerning the .pwl files. These are the file which set the login ids. Warning Windows98 and below versions of Windows have logins which do not have security value. They are merely personalize start up and desktop preference settings files. It is not until Windows2000 that any true security value comes to Windows and it is actualy an off shoot of the "NT" technology.

Reminders for Mr. Jenkins:
1. Bring in Blank CD's.
2. Draft forms for testing machines checklist.
3. Bring in good Mice for the testing team.
4. Norton Anti-Virus CD
