Trip to Arches National Park

May 4 to May 8, 2006

One of our local Sierra Club members organized a trip to Arches National Park. I love this part of our country - it's so stark and beautiful. The trip was only for three nights, but we were able to cover a lot of ground in that amount of time.

It's hard to get a campsite in the park at this time of year. We had to make the reservations back in January. Our campsite 01 Campsite.jpg (325562 bytes) was in the only campground in the park, which has amazing views and is very close to some of the most interesting features of the park.

We were able to visit narrow canyons 11 Neil Steph.jpg (272736 bytes) between fins 18 Fins.jpg (447315 bytes) of rock.

At this time of year the cactus 20 Claret Cup.jpg (385793 bytes) flowers 28 Barrel Cactus.jpg (329665 bytes) as well as other flowers are blooming. We also attended a ranger led hike that features some of the seasonal flowers.

The crows 36 Crow.jpg (165369 bytes) have adapted pretty well to people!

Some of the other Sierra Club members who attended include several atractive women 46 Camilla Terra Christie Steph.jpg (427575 bytes) and Ramon and Jeanie 70 Ramon Jeanie Arch.jpg (286542 bytes)

Cliff and Craig and I visited Arches a couple years ago, but we didn't get to walk up to the base of Delicate Arch 62 Delicate Arch.jpg (488618 bytes) like I did this time.

I want to visit again soon!
